ESAB Rebel 215ic

I've run one of these a few times off 110 genny, above 110A ish It was giving me a fault code, had to keep restarting the machine. Changed over to the kemppi miniarc arc same power source and no issues.

Has anyone had any issues with the Esab rebel 215ic. For some reason when I turn the unit on the fan kicks on and stays on. It’s also not allowing me to switch options between settings from mig, stick, or tig.

An advert just popped up on my YouTube feed for the 215ic which says it is now capable of doing dc tig. Can’t seem to find a price for it though - all the dealers I looked at just describe the previous model, so I guess it’s not yet been delivered to them??

any manufacturer got a true ac/dc tig , mig ,stick machine together yet
think everlast had done it so why havent
Rtech copied it , would just need a constant current facility and wire feed set up
to a modded current digital tig unit

I thought the 215 had always been able to do DC tig.
They are supposed to be releasing an AC/DC version although I have not looked for any details on that recently.

Looks like 205amp on a/c tig.
If they added pulse to the mig side and gave it a 4 roll feeder I would actually be tempted providing you could connect 2 gas bottles and leave both tig and mig torches connected at once.
(I have not looked, might well be able to?)

Edit: it might actually make quite a good aluminium welding plant. If the s-mig feature is available on alloy then you could use the mig for the heavy stuff and the tig for the thin stuff.
Not that I need one...

If for dedicated AC TIG the duty cycles don't look as if they're much to write home about, in my (I'll acknowledge somewhat limited) experience?

25% at full output, 100% at 110amps. (Dont quote me)

You would not use it in an industrial production setting but if you wanted one machine for a home/hobby workshop or just one machine to cover every job that comes in it might be fine.

Personally I dont like having to swap the leads/gas/torches around. It's bad enough having to swap a water cooler between machines.
If the leads could be left connected and the cooler shared between them I can see a use for it as it's got to be easier than pushing one welder out of the way so you can get another out.

In fact I got most things wrong, meant to write ac not dc (but it was 6 in the morning!). Anyway, it says the following in the blurb:

• True All-Process - excellent performance on MIG, Flux-Cored, MMA (including 6010 electrodes), DC TIG and AC TIG industrial applications

You can, it does have two gas solenoids.
