Where abouts did you get yours? Sounds good if i can get a similar package.

Just checked the paperwork, came from a company called Weldcare Ltd. As it was a purchase over £1000 for a public body it had to go out to tender through the public contracts Scotland website so I couldn't just go straight to Macgregors even though they had put together a reasonable quote for me and I'd have preferred that option.

If you do end up having it shipped I seem to recall it was pretty well packed and as welders go it is pretty portable/set up for taking the odd knock. You could have had a shot of ours to test drive it if you were home! I'm now in two minds about what to do as I need another few units but would really like AC TIG and HF start. The Miller Multimatic 220 looks just the ticket but I can't see any for sale here and I suspect I would have to fight very hard for them.

The Rebel is a great welder though, the sMIG in particular is fantastic. Don't know what you are doing for gas but I ended up with Hobbyweld Ultra bottles for the Rebel which have the built in regulators so if you are going down that route then you may be able to avoid the separate regulator cost.

Is it the Ace group you work with? I think I've seen the landy in your photo about the town.

I think I'll probably go with the hobbyweld gas, as I doubt I'll get through enough to justify boc rent. I'll only be using it for small bits and bobs, mainly car related.

Worth checking if you have an Albee agent near you I went with them for my gas for the 215 they worked out best for me.

They don't have a agent up my way, but website says the can supply direct. So might be worth getting a price from them

Ace is no more these days, but you may well have seen the red 110 around town it does a fair few miles up and down the roads as I am what they call peripatetic and move between Lewis/Harris & Benbecula. Am in the old ACE garage once a week or so but the welding stuff I do is more mainstream.

For your gas bottles another thing to note is that you can leave both connected at the same time as the TIG torch has a manual valve and doesn't go through the machine - that may have implications for you regarding number of regulators you want or the bottles. If you want to use TIG regularly it is worth having a 2nd regulator to save a lot of faff (unless your bottles have built in regulators).

Can someone tell me what the mig quality and capability is like when this is on a 110v plug? Has someone used this on a 16amp and 32amp plug?
Might be a stupid question, but would the performance drop if you used a 25m extension lead

I’ve also used it on a 15mtr 2.5mm extension while welding in a van.

A bit concerning hear that it kills boards running undersized extension leads! I ended up running on 110V@10A input due to the supplied extension lead being a converted 240V reel and the Rebel did a surprisingly good job of sheet steel MIG. Can't remember what exact settings were but I was impressed. It recognised it was on 110 and dropped the max settings for the processes to take into account lower power input. Now on 240V 32A so no such restrictions :-)

I ran my rebel on a chunky 50m 240v extension lead in an emergency it worked which surprised me, i did have an issue at a mates he only had a cheap Wilko 20m reel, it started to weld then just stopped welding a bit like when you hit the duty cycle (but after 10 secs or so), turned it off and on again and it did the same. I went and got my reel and it ran fine. I wonder if it has a low power safety mechanism?

I just wouldn’t do it mate, I wouldn’t take the risk. They don’t like it. They’re Chinese machines designed for hobbiest use or light workshop work. Not site work.

If you want a proper 110V/240v Stick/TIG welder look at a Lorch MicorTig 200.

If you want to Mig on 110v, get the fronius 2200 MV

How long a lead?
15m it is fine.
30m you may need to go to 4.0mm core
