No it is the push pull system mate iirc.
The feed unit is doing the pushing the mini drive the pulling. Then you stick a mig gun on it. Same as kemppi super snake.

Yes, but I was meaning do they not use a push/pull normally.
For me that would be a good solution if I could also use a Push/Pull but not an option for me anyway so.....

They mainly use conventional 3metre MB501 mig torches but they do use push-pull guns as well.
If you look closely at the mini-drive there is s 19 pole socket on the front do you can use a push-pull gun on that too. It really is a little gem of a feeder.

Yes had seen the socket but it was mentioned earlier that it may not work with a push/pull.
How do the mini-drives connect, is it via the digital plug? Do they have tachs on the motors?

Perhaps that 19 pole maybe in case you use the mini feeder in place of the main feeder and so it becomes the primary?
I was always under the impression that the machine can operate a primary feeder (compact or separate) and then Power up and synchronise a further maximum of 1 secondary feeder (intermediate or push/Pull)
That’s really good if the EWM can power up and sync 1 main and 2 secondary feeders, I don’t know so much about EWM but we certainly can’t do more than a primary and one secondary feeder.

You do need to add an extra bit of wiring to the feeder when you add the mini-drive so that the main feeder knows it has to work with a second feeder. As for adding a push pull as well it doesn’t seem to hinder the performance at all.
It is a good idea to recalibrate the set for the new resistance of the welding circuit which is just a matter of holding down the cycle function button on the feeder as you turn the main power switch on. Then you touch the tip down onto earthed metal or the earth clamp itself and press the trigger. The machine sends out some voltage down the leads and mesures the resistance and displays a value on the feeder display. Anything under 30 is fine, anything over that and you go hunting for corroded/burnt or loose connections.
They have some really clever stuff up their sleeves in the modern kit which we barely scratch the surface of on most jobs.

Just to clear it up, it’s not more than two feeders. It’s a Phoenix power source, with a 15 metre interconnection cable to the standard Drive 4X feeder, then from there it’s the 15 metre (which is the max they recommend for alu wire) from the feeder to the mini-drive. From there forward you can either fit a standard torch or a push-pull if you really need some extra distance.
Some interesting feedback from the operators was that they loved the feedbox but they’d like to see a slippery sheath on the cable harness as the rubber impregnated cloth they currently use grips like hell on any edges or obstructions as you drag it and gets hung up. Apparently the sheath on the Kemppi snake is more like what they are after so I’ll feed that tidbit back to the boys and girls in Germany for their cogitation. Good idea though.

It might be but I haven’t seen many super snakes in use without a few silver tape repairs in that orange sheath. It might not grip to corners and edges but it does seem to tear.

Yes maybe not 3 feeders but 3 independant wire feed motors that are all powered up and synchronised??
We have a maximum standard range of 50 meters, A separate wirefeed version with a 20m Interhose, with a Nanofeeder with a 25m length and then a standard 5m torch connected to make up the 50m range of operation, but for Aluminium we wouldn’t advocate anymore than 4m for the final length of the torch.
What I like about the system you have described (if I have understood correctly) is that you have the wirefeed plate within the machine, then the secondary feed plate of the mini drive and then a motor in the push pull torch, giving 3 motors in total all powered up and all sync’d.
Off my head I can’t imagine many applications where this would be required but it’s still impressive nonetheless

This project has been abandoned as I have just taken delivery of a very nice looking and very little used nano feeder 
I need to fit a pot somehow to the end housing but there are 3 spare wires so not a big problem, just have to get a pot and some crimp terminals. I will also need to get an MB36 torch to fit this as I won't be able to use the push/pull on the end of it, or at least I don't think I will.
