Makes sense now. A bench top saw you can tuck away when finished with.
I'd still look at cutting with a coolant if you can unless Femi give you a specific reason why you shouldn't. Blades ain't cheap and if you can double there life like @Paul G said, then it's a no brainier.

What I'm wondering is if I should get the smaller Saw which can be a table bandsaw too. Or buy the bigger one and maybe get the auto cut function if it's worth it.

I think some of the makers say don't use cutting lube because if it gets dragged along the blade to the wheels it can result in slipping.

I bought a good cutting fluid and had some in a jar with a small brush, I used to dab along the cut line prior to the cut and another dribble half way through whatever it was cutting, it cut better, blades lasted for ages, the fluid lasted for ages and there was no splashing or fluid to clean up afterwards.

By auto cut do you mean the saw shuts off when it's through.
This is usually the norm on saws with a heavy bow where you just kick it off and make a brew. Mine does this and it's nothing complicated just a tab on the end of the bow that taps the switch off when the cut is done.

The Saw cuts on its own then turns off after. So you can leave it to get on with it

Thought so. If that's what your looking for then it's the norm on a horizontal bandsaw.
Like I say a bolt on tab on the end of the bow that flicks the off switch is as simple as they come.

That's a quick cutter. Mine would take about a minute to go through that but I wouldn't be pulling down on the handle like he was.
That saw does have auto cut out Kim but it's not one you kick off and leave it to cut. You still manually put pressure on it via the handle. I don't think the bow is heavy enough to cut on its own
You could change that mind with a bit of weight hanging off the handle mind.

if you're like me, you'll spend more time getting it set up and putting it away than you do cutting with it.

if you're in a production environment, time is money, but for a hobby user its not such an issue.

No. Because you will be with the saw pulling the blade down you will then be a matter of inches away from the switch when you finish your cut. I could think of a much better way to spend £100 on it like a handful of starret blades. Auto cut of is much more essential on a saw you can leave to crack on.

The thing is it depends on what your intentions are Kim. I quite often have 4 or 6 lumps of box section stacked in the vice which could take 5 minutes to cut. So I'll leave it and crack on with the tacking or dressing etc. So it's important that my saw cuts off. £100 is a bit rich mind. Are you likely to want to leave it while doing other things??

I think if it was me I'd not bother with it and if later down the line I decided I wanted a cut off I'd simply make it work like I have with my own. Lots of ways you can do it. A limit switch like they have done is very cheap and easy to do. Or bring an on/off switch in under the bow like mine. You could move the e stop or run a pair of wires from the e stop to make an estop loop and fit another in the position under the bow. Loads of ways to do it that cost a lot less than £100.

I think I've been getting confused. It doesn't actual pull itself through the material. It just relys on the weight of the machine to cut though?
If that's the case, yes you guys are right. Ill leave it. I can put a switch in. Saves me £100 for something so pointless
