Likely redrill. You'll be trying to pull the frame back to the old position, if not. If the holes match up, fine, but otherwise redrill. Get the hinge side leg level/plumb & fixed, then jiggle the rest of the frame to perfection. Use flat packers. You can leave them in there & cut any protrusion off once fixed & foamed. A pry bar is your friend for adjustment, rather than using tapered wedges. A block of wood & hammer for tapping corners forward or back.

Ta. I wonder if I could reuse the existing holes but just up them to M12 frame fixings? The holes in the brick/block should just open up a bit more and the holes in the upvc frame just give in to the new, slightly off position.

The cheaper end drills tend to have a rough hammer and if you have ever used a Hilti SDS hammer then you would know what i mean as they have a refined higher geared hammer and don't pound there way through

high frequency rather than the cheap bloody great clowt you can nearly sculpture with them without unwanted damage

Oddly enough I ordered a door from them just yesterday, he called to double check all the details.


It's not until today that I measured my bike and realised it won't fit through the door I've ordered, but without slicing several inches of brick away and fitting a longer lintel over the top, there's not a lot I can do.

Well, no, I'm leaving it inside the front garage, rather than wheeling it through the back door into the back garden, into a (hopefully built this decade) bigger workshop.

Not sure what a winbag is. I believe my door comes with a 'fitting kit'. I have plenty of those longs screws with plastic sleeves on, whatever they are called. And sticky silicon goop is but a shopping trip mile away.

Win bags are inflatable shims aren't they?

Frame fixings is the colloquial term for the bfo plastic sleeved screws.

Fitting a door use the frame clips, and keep the door closed till its in and the bodge it foam has set.
