They have just built an estate just as you enter Fulford (York) the area is notorious for flooding. Its a flood plain after all, as time had gone by the river has been choked with higher banks, causing more localised problems.

Done the same near me - ignored the local objections that its the flood plain and it floods several times a year. Built the land up and built on it - the new houses have indeed not flooded. Somewhere else has, as the tanks they installed to capture water and release it soon filled - and they drain into the local back which drains in the river . . . so when the beck bursts it's banks, as does the river few hundred yards further on, and the tank drain is now well under water . . . now what happens??
