The weird thing we are seeing in Herefordshire is places that have never had water before flooding yet places that are known for it are ok. We have tide marks in the fields, the ones over the road looked like a sea yesterday, waves breaking on the edge

The stuff that came up Saturday night was gone again pretty quick, a friend of ours had water past the exhausts on his BMW M4 in his garage!

We have 4 roads that flood which wouldn't normally leaves us one road out and back into civilisation

I parked the hire van (Vito) on the front garden grass on Thursday, lots of rain over the weekend loads of local flooding and this morning it was stuck fast!
No amount of rocking back and forth worked so I tried the rubber mats, still no good. Then I tried some timber but it still wouldn't budge!
Fired up the Surf ready to drag it out but couldn't find the towing eye, it wasn't under the passenger seat where it should have been
Looked to wrap the chain round the front wishbone but that would have wrecked the poxy bumper
I'm getting angry now. I eventually found the towing eye in the door pocket
Got it hitched up and dragged the German pig out of the mire!

Unfortunately he didn't know/expect it, the water didn't come from the stream at the side of his house it backed up from a blocked drain in the road. They had 2-3 inches of silt left on their drive. The water came up in the middle of the night, it all looked fine earlier. I was scary to see how much water came out of the exhaust when he started it. The annoying thing is he could have parked it further up his drive and it would have been fine.

The skip companies 18 wheelers are getting through but anything smaller has no chance.
A flatbed transit turned up to drop his waste off and we all told him not to try it.
He ignored us, got half way down and then got stuck.
The boys from the skip company has to drive their loader in to drag him out.

Agriculture being 'squeezed' into producing cheap food by the big supermarkets has also resulted in the filling in of traditional drainage ditches between original separate areas to create 'mega' fields - can't have it all ways.....

Plus they are not allowed to clean them out, they fill up. Thus the volume of them goes down. The water remains the same amount, it moves to a new place.

I live in Tewkesbury. Roads are being closed tonight with the level expected to peak at 08:00 tomorrow.

Now for the decision, do I get the kayaks out? Or fit the mast to my sailing boat?

I drove up the M1 on Tuesday and the Trent at Nottingham had burst its banks.

In all the years I've seen it, (40 years man and boy, mainly boy ), I haven't seen it flood to that extent. The course of the river was completely out of sight, and all the roads around were under water.
