Hi Jaffman,

Good to see more progress. I couldn't quite make out what it was there that you thought you'd got wrong with the spring mount. Was it simply that it needed to be further out than you had expected and therefore the cut out in the chassis leg wasn't aligned?

I got the angle wrong. So I cut out more on the inside of the chassis leg than the outside so the “cup” would have been angled face in. But I needed it to be angled face out meaning I should have cut more out of the outside of the leg than the inside. I managed to fix it in the end, results will be in the next episode but it would have been nice if I hadn’t messed it up. The outside of the “cup” is now perfectly lined up with the rail so that’s one thing and the angle of the “cup” is almost perfect for the spring so we’re all good

To be fair mate, that was hardly catastrophic, could have been a lot worse!

Was out there until 2 o clock yesterday - fml lol

on a lighter note the exhaust down pipes are now sorted.

so that’s a v band welded to the turbine housing a v band and reducer from 3” to 2.5” then a support on the gearbox to make sure it doesn’t move anywhere then a flexi pipe and v band for the bit under the car.

manifolds were done previously but have warped quite badly so I’m gonna have to get them machined I think.

as far as the exhaust is concerned it’s done until I’ve tested the setup, I simple can’t be bothered to do the bit under the car yet as the tolerances are silly tight and it’s only going to be a bit of extra noise when I start it up lol.

ill put a temporary v band on and point them under the car for now.


Im a little worried about the cast of the turbine housing being welded to but i suppose time will tell in that case and they were fine after I mig welded them and let them cool down slowly. The rest of the exhaust is tig welded and some of it is excellent and the rest is poo! I still don’t know what I’m doing differently to achieve the 2 results lol

making headway now eh , as for the welding the exhaust gas wont worry it as long as theres no holes its good , you will only know when it gets proper hot and it expands if all sound, another bit done an ticked off

no the rear of the plate will go down to chassis rails for 2 reasons, 1 its support in compression whereas the front is support in tension, and 2 it gives me a good base to build the inner arches too also.

I might end up putting one at front and back down to chassis rails at an angle to give it extra support. There’s no great weight on these anyway so it’s not as structurally important as the spring seats imo, just need to stop it bending and not letting it flex under pressure.
It also replicates the standard setup in some fashion, I’m just weary of how to do it as the original setup was a rust trap

correct, but the support needs the inner arch in first anyway so I need to do some thinking.

Good work. Personally I would like a bit more clearance from the tyre, it won't take much flex before it contacts.

I did get a lot of good comments on there from the limited information given but I’m not allowed to link YouTube on there and adding pictures is a pain in the cunninglinguals so I gave up after the agro. Their loss lol.

As I said the majority of responses are positive, just get the odd one or two killjoys that seem to enjoy telling others how to spend their time and money
