They make a sealant for o rings that is non petroleum based...I used it for our pool, but it is also good for automotive applications. I put it on new injector seals and it helped them press in place as well as helps old stuff to seal well....Cant remember if its silicon based or some other synthetic.

This is the stuff I used on my fuel injector o ring seals and brake calipers

Red grease made for o rings and rubber to protect and lubricate it while not damaging the rubber.

the squeaking has gone, I’ll put water in it today to sort the idle out, and the smell... well it’s better than the smell of welding lol

Vaseline was/is used to rebuild automatic transmissions. I've never heard of any issues with it.

You'll get some nasty smels for a while as carp and corruption burn off all the hot dirty bits. But better than the smell of welding? Surely not?!

Depends what type of welding lol

ha no I haven’t because the propshaft isn’t on yet. If the misses is up for it later I might bleed the clutch to check it’s operation too. Get those back wheels spinning

ive also sorted the idle out - real simple fix once you know how the engine finds it idle.
I also ordered some **Language**ing injector seals!!!! £30 ill never see again!

but it started leaking fuel again and that could end up getting expensive ha

Must confess your idling issue gave me a little chuckle, in a nice way!

I doubt I can help but I did run an old injected V8 (not turbo) some years ago that had an idle by pass and I do remember it being quite a small pipe that often clogged because it sat right next to the crankcase breather pipe in front of the throttle body! It couldn't just be that the pipe you have going to the idle control motor is too big could it?

P.S. If a hairdresser arrives, send 'em round when you're done!

It’s not bothering me as much as i let on lol. It’l be fixed, just a matter of time and money.

it could be too big but then it’s the standard size. Even pulling the turbos out of the inlet system makes no difference so it’s not them having an effect on it.

Something I haven’t done is pulled the plug out of the valve to see what difference it makes but I guess it wouldn’t start

my hair is getting Out. Of. Control! Think the hats might make a return for the summer!

it is getting too much air yes. probably because the IACV is **Language**ed and stuck open lol. just been tinkering and the pintle in the valve doesnt move at all so im assuming its stuck open which is causing the large spike in Ripems before the ECU messes about with the ignition to drop it back down again and repeat over and over again, which is why when i grab the pipe its metering it correctly.

Didnt think about checking for a restriction tbh but i dont think it does and the bypass loop ive done his fairly common

they’re fixable with a pair of bearings. I’ve ordered the bearings and I will try to fix it without breaking it even more lol.

If I break it further I’ll just buy another
