A good tool in fusion when sketching is the line tool as it also allows you to do a radius as well. Vid below, draw line then for next segment hold down the left button and move and it will draw an arc.

Ah awesome that's new to me, i know my other cad packages could but never thought to try it.

Yeah I’ve seen John Saunders do things, especially with constraints, to get a sketch centred and stuff really really quick. Can’t bloody find the video now. You hold shift or Ctrl or something and it puts a line bang on the midpoint of another.

Constraints are great especially the tangent but you have to click in the correct order

And the new sketch plane as it can be offset i also often use project

Project is excellent when drawing up something with components, You can select a component you have already done and the sketch projects onto the plane then you can alter if you wish before extruding. Use it all the time

Ive just designed an item with parts that nest, but the geometry is far more important once i achieved the geometry i projected the faces

Trial 3d print its bang on. Ready for laser cutting.

That's not out the way, most trade bodies earn you less and cost you more

I have no complaints, BobCAD were wanting £3k for an upgrade to the latest version and unless you buy a service plan any bug fixes cost you. I get nearly 7 years of Fusion for that price and it gets updated all the time with bug fixes free. It has also allowed me to do things from start to finish in the one package where previously I use SW or GeoMagic for modelling and then into BobCAD for CAM. Not only is it all in one package it is also all within one file in Fusion, extremely handy

I bet they're raking it in now, let people use it for 4 years free then only free for students and start removing features. Great business model, get em hooked then start charging.

Should be an offer soon, a few weeks after I bought mine last year they sent an offer, half price

I think this time I will take them up on it but go for the 3 year deal, just hope I live long enough to take advantage of the 3 years

Do you need it profiled or do you just want the outer profile

Just the outer mate.. I need to be able to extrude the profile so it's thicker at the bottom than the top eventually but getting the profile is a start.

I can't believe no one has twigged on to a you tube channel that provides a screen cast of requests......it's one thing following a tutorial when the presenter keeps mumbling about other things or going of on a tangent and another learning what you actually need..

Don't really know how it works but that is unlikely. I do remember reading something about it but it was a while ago so I have forgotten.
I will be waiting until later in the year before I do that, if at all, so the most I would be losing out on would probably be a few months worth.
