That's the one! You get one as well?
You have a legally binding letter from Calor that allows you legal ownership of the bottle, and a risk assessment filed with the HSE, and are going to laboratory test the emissions of this stove to comply with EU regulations ?
they might well look at the continent where they seem to use glass fibre for making propane and butane tanks, seen a few in campers coming back from foreign lands.Calor gas bottles are fare game for anyone to cut up and make good use of them, the more the merrier I say.
calor have been ripping people off for enough years by not giving back any refund on the bottles unless you have original receipts.
plus fancy making a bottle that is so usefull !!!! that was asking for trouble.
keep making these little fires, they are keeping Britain tidy.
and the valves come of dead easy, just use a long bar and steady push and they open up.
no point belting them they just don't move like that. nice long steady push and take the valve off.
now there is 2 easy ways to get any gas out and stop the contents being flammable,
1st is the fill it with water.
and second.... fumes from a car exhaust will kill any dangerous fumes from inside a vessel.
pipe from exhaust of car to whatever you want flammable fumes to come out of. it works and was shown to me by someone who
welds empty petrol tanks.
I have a 7kg in the making at the moment as only very small limited workspace.

I noticed that flue flashings on the e of bay are silly prices, have you guys found a cheaper way of sealing the roof where the flue pops out?
Let's not confuse mAtters here and give H&S bad press. Legal ownership of the bottle is nothing to do with HSE. If there is any doubt about ownership then it may be a criminal or civil matter that is nothing to do with HSE, at worst it may be an issue of theft taken up by the owner of the bottle which may be quite difficult to prove as there is this thing called orphaned bottles. Such bottles despite owners markings etc are left in the system cause it's just too bloody expensive to round em all up. Secondly HSE have no jurisdiction over a private individual conducting works in his backyard workshop, if it goes pear shaped then just too bad, I would always suggest that the correct precautions are taken or else it could be your last project
Finally with emissions regs this is a complicated minefield requiring multiple multiple inputs, have you never lit a bonfire and burnt the odd carpet etc? Burning wood although dirty is allot cleaner than most fossil fuels. I can provide quite extensive data if interested.
Please don't give H&S bad press, as you will see I have given OP plenty of good advice on how to remove valve correctly. It's not for me to say or summize how bottle may have been obtained. Incidentally calor are quite a big client of the firm I work for and for liability purposes (very specifically not H&S) will never give or sell bottles to the best of my knowledge. Site at stoney Stanton crushes bottles for the scrapper when done
