Did you order yours with the option, ally wheels with low profile tyres, and flared arches?

The wheels look a standard type castor, but as i said previously its strength relies in the tyre

Those front castors look normal to me (apart from the destroyed nature of yours - has a similar problem overloading a wheely suitcase in Frankfurt airport). Though the forum has already influenced the availability of different colours - perhaps we should press for alloys.

I never did latin, except as part of a law bit in me masters degree, so it's all greek to me.

Yes but i wasent riding down the hill on it, with an anvil on my lap. i was pushing it into the garage, without even a gas bottle and wire at this stage. So there was definately no overloading been done.
As to point 2. The second Latin quote is Dog Latin, so no form will ever be correct, as there is no such Latin word as Carbonumdrum or carborundum, and the Latin for illegitimate is Nothus or some such greek origin word.

Dog latin? Surely it's a dead language. Fair enough people develop English as they go along, but I can't see any need to do the same with Latin. That's just silly. Leave it to die is my thought.

Had my portamig delivered this week and have the same problem with the wheels. There was a small grey piece of broken plasic at the bottom of the box which I though was nothing to do with the welder but turns out to be part of the wheel. So my guess the wheels break during transit

Hang on a minute, one post and you're telling people you've already got a Portamig??? We've got people who are saving every penny to buy one, are you trying to make them jealous?

Knowing carriers, they just treat everything a little to rough, ram it with the forklift a few times etc, and then things get broken. Best advice is to unpack as soon as the carrier arrives, then if damaged sign for it as damage, if not sign for it as unchecked

I was wondering how my zephyr like push, the 4 entire feet to the garage had broken the wheel. You may well be right, it could have broke in transit and as soon as it was required to move under its own steam it went all knackardy. I did actually check it over as well as i could, considering it was still in the box, before i signed for it. The delivery guy gave me two minutes to check it, which is 1 minute and 50 seconds more than most give. Then i had to sign 'unchecked' But well, wheels. You just assume dont you ?
Now we are getting to the bottom of things... fecking Carriers!
Nothing wrong with the castors, just those spud-thick t**ts that call themselves "professional drivers"!

weldequip you wouldnt believe the things i have had delivered with a nice slit in the box about 1inch high and 5inches wide, always just the right size for a forklift blade. lucky enough its always been just the box. I do wonder often where there get there forklift liciences from perhaps off the back of a corn flake packet

If the carriers can break the wheels, the wheels are rubbish. I mean, come on, how long will they last underneath a lump of welding plant???
I think, Steve, you need to tell Portamig that their recent purchase of shoddy chinese castors need to go in the bin!

try getting plaster board delivered undamaged its a joke even had boxes of screws so badly damaged had to send them back to the suppliers and they've got there own drivers for the boards and anything trying to save up for a portamig and got to get new gas seams some fool left it open over night and it leaked out from the torch or a pipe on the that will teach me to check before going for tea and getting distracted and its cost me £54.05 for a years rent on a boc argonshield uni bottle and £42.01 for gas doh need more gas
