Heating oil increase this morning

I'm tempted to do 2300l which will see me through winter and give me 1200l plus (depending on what I have used) to take some advantage of any crash\decrease if it comes.

Where are people following to get info on this - I can only track what has happened rather than finding anywhere that speculates on what might happen with some accuracy. Where did you hear about the gas prices @fizzy ?

Errr... just put another quote request to Boilerjuice and it has dropped another 5ppl for my postcode - now 75.41ppl - thats since about two hours ago! Is the price crashing today??

Goldmine Sachs have reported on it but its common sense. Unless we have a very harsh Winter and no wind.
The banks are predicting a Worldwide recession which will also cause the prices to plummet which should then enable us to get out of recession.

I've often spoke to my normal supplier and he said he has given up trying to predict. We would all assume that it will be higher in winter months but apart from the low price a couple or years back which was an all time low for me the lowest price before that was in February about 6-7 years a go.

What I tend to do is use Boilerjuice as an easy gauge knowing that my local suppliers will always be cheaper, clearly that isn't the case for everyone as seen here. I can keep an eye on the trends quite easily that way. If the prices seem high then I hang on and put in enough to keep me going and then watch what's happening. This time I put in 1000L which would get me through the winter but if I see it drop away then I will add more.

Personally I think it's a mistake to totally fill a big tank with the market being so volatile. Sure that could turn out to be a gamble but worst case I have to put 500L in at higher price but I guarantee my heating will still be cheaper than someone paying £250/month for gas/electric.

I only half filled mine at 96p a litre.
But remember when the price plummets you can start using as much as you like because its the future price that matters.

This morning I had a Bjuice quote for 80.46ppl, phoned my usual supplier and they said they would come down to 81.00ppl after initially quoting me 91.85+VAT... I then just idly clicked for another BJuice quote and it came out at 75.41ppl! I think I will go for 2300 at that price from them - I cant see that its worth the pain of the phone calls when noone ever comes in cheaper round here...?

It may be that Boilerjuice have a good deal with a local supplier in your area, that may well be just down to the fact that there are loads of people local to you using Boilerjuice and they can be doing bigger orders. It's intriguing that in my area the prices are the other way round.

The thing I'd interested to do when the Boilerjuice quote is lower than anyone else is note down all of the suppliers prices and then when the Boilerjuice delivery arrives ring the supplier and ask them to explain. It makes no sense that XYZ oil quote 90p/L yet you can order from Boilerjuice for 5-10p less and still have it delivered by XYZ oil given that the oil company is making money and so are Boilerjuice.

Imagine if they offer a £400 contribution this winter and you have just filled up. Very unlikely but I should imagine most people are waiting, iirc i think Martin Lewis and the like are expecting news next week.

Liz Truss has announced a new fund for those on heating oil, households in mobile homes and those on heat networks so that "all UK consumers can benefit from equal support".

The exact details on the new fund will follow in due course.

I just tried it for West Wales and its coming out at 91p per litre - changed it to DA1 - Dartford - and it's 76p.
Considering we are 30 miles from all the refineries in Pembroke its insane

Just put in SA71 which is Pembroke itself - 89p

Makes nosense does it, you can put in a tanker on a lorry or train, pay a driver for a day plus fuel costs and save 15p/L

They supply Devon and Cornwall, not always the cheapest but maybe worth a call.

I've been to fix machines at Pembroke power station on a few occasions and when you come over the hill the power station site is tiny compared to that refinery. It's amazing to see it all lit up at night.

They supply Devon and Cornwall, not always the cheapest but maybe worth a call.

East Cornwall - can walk to Devon in about 15 mins from the house.

That makes no sense at all!
