Heating oil increase this morning

Wow. Thats cheap by todays standards. Cant beleive i would ever consider that cheap either!

I changed the oil and filter on the Kuga and recorded 2,000 miles use in the last 8 months. 400 mile round trip with caravan in there somewhere. Rural living forces useage, but use home deliveries a lot. Bringing firewood is car's main use now, with small trailer. This offests oil useage for ch/hw. £46/mtr³ softwood. 8th load so far since Oct. Econmics of it? 2 ft of fibre wool in lofts and ch drops to 18C at night (set at 15C). Stone house so needs wood burner to ventilate it.

I had a delivery today 600L 83.95p, cheapest quote I got was 81.95p but would have been 2 weeks delivery, £12 saving wasn't worth the worry of running out. If I had gone to 900L I could got it for 79.9p. We have a big tank but I'm hoping there will be further drops in price.

As it happens I only rang around yesterday and got my oil at 08:20 today so that's a good result.

We put in 900L last autumn so I think we've done ok in a reasonbly big draughty old house.

Can you buy an extra tank to make it thru the winter without re-filling ?

We have a 2500L tank so making it through winter is no issue at. If it was brimmed we would do 20 months with winters at each end easily.

Price is dithering and so am I. Got 35cm left in the 2,500ltr tank = approx 550ltrs. (I hope ). Put 500 in Oct 22 at £1.05 inc.

Prices are up and down like a yoyo at the moment.

For me on the eastern edge of Bodmin moor, boiler juice is 74ppl today and homefuelsdirect 78ppl. A friend on the other side of Dartmoor just got boilerjuice down to 71ppl. I wonder if they will get down into the 60s at some point? Thats almost the high end of 'normal' whatever that once was...

Talking to a guy in our local bike shop yesterday, he showed me his app for finding cheap fuel. Albeit petrol and diesel, both were 20p a litre cheaper in Manchester than they are in my town Stafford. I assume heating oil is the same?

He actually works in Manchester, doesn't drive up just to fill up.

I dont know. It had gine up to 72ppl later yesterday and is 72.59ppl now for my postcode. Just odd that its nearly at its cheapest in 9 months with ice on the ground!

Im getting quoted 71.2p plus vat this morning for 20th delivery on 1000ltrs. Small tanker creeps it up .o2 per ltr

I suspect that a number of suppliers are trying to shift stock that was bought when the price was higher. For the first time in a while, my usual supplier was unable / unwilling to match Boiler Juice prices.

I would assume if everyone can hold off on purchasing for a bit the prices will come down? they cant hold on to the stock forever regardless of what they paid
