Thats the only way to beat the spikes in prices, also more likely to get a discount on the larger quantities when you do order.

Ditto with 2500 bunded.
The irony is that I also put a solid fuel Rayburn in in November so havent used the oil boiler for our house this winter! (Still does our annexe). Its cost £5 a day in coal and free wood to keep the house at 21C and do the hot water. I'll do a coal and oil order mid summer for next winter.

What did you buy? I need something slightly smaller than the 3000L one we have at the moment but not too small.

The fuel company you use will often change tanks for you for a very small fee if you buy the bunded tank off them and pump the contents of the old tank through an industrial filter after decanting the oil from temporary storage barrels so it does not matter much unless you were doing the install / change over yourself

My problem is that the new tank won't technically be compliant when it replaces the old one...

We pay an up front monthly direct to the fuel company , thus spreading the refill cost over the year . Most years we've filled in June to August & always ended up a hundred quid or so in credit which is adjusted for the next years direct debits .T

Then be very careful locally our Welsh fuel delivery guys are being penalized if they fill up an illegal tank , tank siting wrt house / boundaries or bad pipe work . A few have had refilling refused till the latest spec tank 7 setting up has be done by a certified installer ( part of the anti pollution legislation here in Wales ).
House insurance might also be affected if certain events go wrong

I think 3000 liters is the maximum allowable in a domestic situation.

It might vary from authority to authority and because of the EA trying to protect the amount of clean water sources in the area .
It was a Deso H2500BT. New install in different location on new base. Old tank pumped out etc. Total was £4K inclusive.

3,500 litres is commercial tank size with larger clearances etc required by Oftec regs

The base will be fine once I've bedded in some paving slabs, it's the fence it sits next to that needs sorting out. I can't move the tank anywhere else and it sits on the boundry.
From the pictures @dobbslc has put up before its in a narrow space. It would need to be 30cm wide, about 4m long and the same tall to comply and then tomorrow they would extend the required clearances by another foot and make everything non compliant again.
