We're a bit further North and I was definitely feeling the cold when working from home doing office work in December. I find down to about 12 or 13 I don't really feel it, but there were times my "Home Office" (aka spare bedroom) was down to 8 or 9. Oil tank is reading around 750L at the moment, I'm hesitating about the right time to get 1000L in. We used a lot less oil this season, but with hindsight should have probably had the heating on earlier in the Autumn, not just the cold but the whole house was feeling clammy.

Over here we have warnings against letting your indoor temps go below 16C, health issues of the inhabitants as well as mold issues start to increase if you have it colder indoors than that.
Mould or condensation problems will depend on house design, so can't comment on possible differences between Finland and Scotland. I simply don't believe concerns about health issues. As I write this our living room is 15.3 and the kitchen where the missus is doing paperwork is 15.9. Maybe, possibly, if people were aclimatised from birth to living temperatures of 22 day or so.

Cost of living here is probably less than your area but nurses here seem to be some of the better placed in society. Seems to be the carers and cleaners struggling more, although I’m sure they all actually deserve to earn more.I wonder if our government would dare to try that here! Most nurses are on the verge of poverty just trying to live and can't afford heating

Agreed! We seem to be comfortable at 16 during the day and in the evenings at 19/20 in the sitting room . Any more and it becomes too warm. My bedroom is unheated thro choice all year ,just well aired so no condensation problems. We seem to find that an extra layer of clothing works well .I love listening to others moaning about not being able to afford the heating as they stand in their houses at 25 degree's wearing summer gear. Medical issues not withstanding.
Interesting that down South they consider +2 Deg C as "severe winter weather" triggering emergency resposes at many levels. That shows the context, a country where cold weather is considered abnormal and people unprepared.
Reminds me of the thing on BBC website showing adverse effects of low room temperature. Demonstrated by a guy in shorts and a tee shirt which was kept rolled up to attach the instruments.
Just rung around my local suppliers. Range is 63.9-74.21!
HFD came in at 62.99. Boilerjuice at 61.86.
Interesting, as local suppliers are normally slightly better than the online suppliers. Also, it was noted prices only drifting upwards after the OPEC announcement - no massive spike.
I’ve decided to leave it until June. Lucky to have the space to specify a larger tank when we replaced our old one!
