Help finding a bearing or seal

You are obviously local.
Someone else suggested them to me the other day.
Due to work not easy for me to escape at sensible times but exceptions can be made

Ring 'em up and describe what you need - OD, ID and depth/thickness and what you are trying to do - keep oil/grease in, dirt out etc. If they haven't got one of the right OD - well you have at least one lathe - make a spacer.

Seals, like bearings, O-rings, circlips, c-rings, nuts, bolts, screws, etc are made to international standards, so there is likely to be a suitable seal of the right size on a shelf somewhere.

My local place is Spen bearings - lady in there apologised for selling the last one of the bearing I wanted the day before and it would be a while before she could get another . . . meaning a whole hour delay to get it that afternoon!

I think the pulley projects through the seal over the shaft, the inner seal is also leaking.

If you cannot find the seal in bearing boys, try simply bearings in Manchester, they have never failed me.

Just muck and sealant on the outer end. Smooth as a baby's bum the other end
Just measured it.
0.74980 so I assume we can call it 3/4"?
Or 19.043mm.
Roller bearing feels nice and smooth.

Got the seal out ok. Handy having a press. Turned a bit of bar down. Had to avoid the circlip still in there.

Ah, so the oring is between pulley face and inner bearing race sealing there to stop the oil tracing up between pulley and shaft.

The old leather and metal seals were great in the days when High performance rubbers hadn't been developed, my 1956 Bedford had them all over ( diff , gearbox etc) One by one they were replaced by modern rubber seals , with no problems really. With a proper supplier , ( like the ones mentioned) they are only a few quid each .

If there is enough plain shaft protruding, you could seal it at the other end with a Dowty washer

Looks as if it is tracking along shaft, good to replace seal while pulley is off though.
Bearing fit 641 on shaft will seal shaft to pulley.
Retaining Compound - medium strength. If disassembly is required. Ideal for parts that need subsequent dismantling.

LOCTITE 641 is designed for the bonding of cylindrical fitting parts, particularly where disassembly is required for servicing operations. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage due to shock and vibration. Ideal for parts that need subsequent dismantling, i.e. retention of bearings on shafts and in housings.

And rope packing, like used on the old Jags on the crankshaft, always leaked

I did think of that but make it harder to remove. Is it OK to heat the pulley if it needs to come off again?

It's the seal between the pulley & shaft that also needs replacing, looks like a bit of leather in the photo, an 'O' ring should do it.

Needs a photo of the corresponding end of the pulley to give a better idea of the profile.

Here i think Ubique is pointing out something like a sealing material, which could be replaced by an oring perhaps. Is there a slight taper in the end of the pulley that an oring could compress into against the inner bearing race?
