That is a circlip.
I really need to take a photo of the other end of the pulley as well.

DOH just realised - that inner seal doesn't fit on the shaft
No wonder I can't find a bearing.
Will have to measure the inner diameter.

It will run on the back of the pulley that's why I think the shaft / pulley bore is the problem

You are obviously local.
Someone else suggested them to me the other day.
Due to work not easy for me to escape at sensible times but exceptions can be made

+1 for Clydach Bearings.
Local to me for random stuff off the shelf is also an old school Co called David Harries in Whitland.
Not a bearing specialist, but they have a big agri customer base with a wide range of old-new implements to keep running - so DH have bearings, seals, Gates Belts, all sorts of stuff, and are usually helpful if you give them a ring.

I agree with 500e, either its not as good a fit as it used to be, may seal with a sealant compound or there could have been an oring type seel at the back or front of the pulley compressing onto the shaft.

Well I am a tad more awake today
Oil seal fits over the back of the pulley. It's nice and smooth thankfully.
So size I need is
2.250" od
1.200" I'd
0.500" thickness

Looking at that, it either needs a copper washer on the inner mating face to seal the shaft or, if there's enough plain shaft projecting, a Dowty washer under the nut holding the pulley onto the shaft. because of the keyway, an 'O' ring won't work.

That one is a quarter thick mine is 1/2".
Looking on my phone though so not ideal will check it properly when back home.

Strangely the main oil seal feels really good. Perhaps a dowty seal or copper washer would have been enough

If you look at the rear of the pulley, you can see where oil has been flung out, it's not the main leak, but it is leaking - check the pulley for a wear groove where the seal was running, if there is one, try to get the new seal to sit either side of it.

Luckily no wear groove at all lovely and smooth. Bit rusty in the Vees. No idea how as the belts are saturated with oil.

Looks like it would also benefit from a chamfer/lead in machined into that pulley/hub , that will tear a lip seal as is.

Doubt it would be any better but it won't do any harm. Lube the seal lips with oil when you do it.
Your other options are make a 1/4" thick spacer ring or just press one seal in half way.

I'd make a spacer ring as an interference fit, press that in first then the seal - is there not one of the correct depth available?
