Have you got any pictures of the old one i have the cylinders and its also on my to do list.I’m thinking of building a new one as my last one has been “borrowed” by a Mate and unlikely to come back

Thats what i was planning fire in the small cylinder smoke out and along a plate bottom of the 47 then smoke comes out and travels along the 47 and back out the top same end as the fire box.I am thinking 47kg tank as main smooking chamber and 16 kg tank as burner box I also want to be able to use it as a regular bbq too

That’s exactly the type I made. I struggled to join the smaller one to larger cylinder so went for a pipe in the end.
Reason I let it go was a 47kg cylinder was too big and too deep for charcoal. It consumed a lot of charcoal or wood
But depends what you need or for
I have another 47kg cylinder bbq, don’t use it much cause it’s just too big.
My favourite size is a 19kg cylinder cook chamber
I didnt think the 47kg one was that big for bbq use smoker yes could be too big
I find it the other way round.
Biggest problem is the distance to the coal bed when using the bigger cylinders.
Plus I usually only cook for one and use it two or three times a week, I find that the bigger cook chamber needs much much more coal
Look at post 7 in this thread, I’m gonna make something like that but with a 19kg cylinder with a trick cut out so the grill comes out in one piece
with the 47 kg bottle the plate can be welded in at the right height for use as a reverse smoker and also double up as a shelf for the coal
That's great but it is just for bbq not smokingmines massive so dont need to build one
this isnt mine but its the same type and design

Cooks for up to 14 people. Cooking area: (W)73, (D)45cm. Can cook up to 28 burgers at a time. Material: Painted. Grill material: Chrome plated steel. Dimensions: (H)93, (W)115.5, (D)51.5cm. Colour: Grey.
its older than both my kids and still in working order
That’s the only thing I didn’t do in my, it probably would have worked ok if it had a plate
i detest smoked food so a bbq and also a rocket hotplate is fine for me
the added bonus is i can use the rocket side of it as a heater as well using little wood
