Electric bikes use very similar hall sensors on the motor shaft.
Can you test the existing unit in situ - then you know if that is your problem.
A fault could be a dead hall sensor, broken wire, or dirty contact in the wiring harness connector.
Check earth is OK (continuity)
Check V+ is OK ( shold read battery positive)
Check each signal wire (blue & white?) pulses when yo turn the shaft with the power on.

Nothing special about the bearing Ronan other than the seal on one side has an encoder behind it ,a bit like the ones used on cars for ABS sensors. They are magnetic on one side so easy to tell which side the encoder is on.

welcome to the world of forklifts. Having immense fun with our manitou at the moment and trying to find something for decent money to get us out of trouble is proving difficult.

I would use an angle grinder to cut deep grooves on the sides of the bearing so a puller can be used

Yup, if you are replacing anyway just create an area to pull on.
If it pulls the outer race off and leaves the inner then slit it with the grinder and split it with a cold chisel, done that hundereds of times, would work on the outer race too if you were so inclined.
Sometimes a bit of roughness is the most efficient way in the absence of specialist tools.

Did you ring Simply bearings in Leigh ? They found me bearings unavailable anywhere else.

Thats a pity, nothing as handy as a forklift around the place.

I imagine it’s fairly essential in @fizzy s line of work (pallet delivery) !!
Fortunately not. We are in the main a freight forwarder. However we do have plenty of pallets coming in and out - our lovely neighbour uses his forklift when needed. The biggest problem is the obstruction the thing is causing!

Yes they do have the steering motor no idea of price.
It is a Yale/Hyster reach truck 2006. Only 1100 hrs on it so like new really. Faultless then suddenly stopped no warning.
