For your 2.5s sound quite hot due to that I'm guessing that you have a bevel to a feather edge plus a gap plus. Also depends on your machine I guess but the pipe looks like sch 40 so be around 4mm thick at a guess

Set them Amps hot enough to burn both bevels of a butt joint, but keep it controlable. 6013 butt joint you want to be keeping your elctrode right in there.

Swap polarity and go in at 85 amps..
Your burning through it in areas because of 3 possible things.
1) too much current for the material
2) hanging around in areas for too long
3) gaps in the fit up.
By swapping polarity you take the punch out of the electrode and into the job.
Penetration is reduced and allows you to run your rods hotter without burning through.

My suggestion is that you keep off the pipe and get the basics first. Pipe welding requires a higher level of skill and isn't doing you any favors, begin with a bead pad (look through the arc welding tutorial on this forum, link is at the top of the page) and progress from there.
Until you can get a good weld on flat straight runs I'd say you aren't ready for anything curved, try to walk instead of run.

I don't stick weld but surely you don't need 10mm plate to pad some beads?

You don't need 10mm plate. You can lay beads flat on whatever you like. Use 4,5,6 etc MM plate or walled box, angle channel etc.
Slap some more across the length of your tube it's still flat position welding.
Then start sticking them together.
Your efforts ain't too bad tbh you just need to gain a bit of understanding for the process and learn to control your metal and slag.

I'll try find some flat plate but I do have some 3" which I have been doing runs on. Just want to show much boss I am willing to learn and show him I am trying that's why I had a go at the flange and butt welds

Get your beads going fine on the flat, the vertical and then overhead. Once you can pad beads move on to fillet welds and the finally butt and pipe.

Yes just straight runs. Practice them in the horizontal vertical and overhead positions, then get cracking on the fillet.

Frankly it's like entering a motorway on your first driving lesson - doomed to failure! . Pad some beads on the flat and work from That point.
You will get there but start at an easier stage
