Are there any tinfoil hats on Amazon?![]()
Pretty sensible in my view. Lenovo are not exactly unknown for anti-consumer activities though.

Maybe it's just a matter of accuracy? Or maybe the voices I've been listening to in the budget sailing world are looking to systems failures that depends upon dedicated GPS?I believe (though not sure) if you want stand alone gps the cell enabled ones will work even when you have no signal.
Even Lenovo you have to go through all the app permissions & turn a load of Android stuff offNow this is what's making me hold off one of the Doogee ones! The spec looks very good for the money and the reviews are good but I don't trust the Chinese as far as I could throw Donald Trump!
Lenovo maybe?
If you want budget sailing use a paper chart, and a hand bearing compass, the rest is cheating. But if you can afford to buy and run the boat, you can handle a few hundred quid for one of the proper gps gadgets.Maybe it's just a matter of accuracy? Either way, you can get usb GPS pucks that'll give a v. accurate location off the satellites.

I prefer a paper chart and a just a position off a gps, but Im old and haven't used any of the latest stuff, last time we chartered in Greece I didnt like the digital chart detail.

Of members that have an interest in tablets, would your intention be to get one that takes a Sim card or one that does not take a Sim?
Also, quite a few places provide WiFi to use.I see little (general user) benefit. If you want connectivity, it can be tethered easily to a 'phone. That also saves another SIM account.

@MattFI understand the sentiment, but there are some of us on here who've been using Chinese phones for years. They simply make the best rugged phones.
It can often be hard to find the 'back button,' especially when it is a touch button built in to the screen very near the edge and not lit up.Well I still haven't bought a new tablet, I just don't have the buy it now reflexes of people like @MattF
I do like to eat things like this out so went to Currys and had a play with a Lenovo 10" tab, it was pretty good and one of the most important things for me is it had a "back button".
Does anyone else have a problem with almost everything now not having one? I mean it's surely a nessessity?
@MattF
I don't mind Chinese stuff.If it works quite well. What name do the Chinese smart phones & tablets go by Matt?
Thank you @MattF for posting at least 4 Chinese named phone. I wonder if their tablets also go by these names.The ones I would class as the most prominent, (I've had products from all 3), are Blackview, Ulefone & Doogee. You also have Oukitel & several others.
I started off with a Blackview, years ago. Their BV6000 phone. I believe @Hood had the same phone. Cracking rugged phone that was.
