Fire away, please !Wanting any further design critique...?
Excellent, and thanks, I'm open to all suggestions, we'll see how this evolves.I think the central void needs enlarging, to better balance the design, removing excess material from top and bottom.
So I would make the void slightly thinner but longer with four well radiused corners.
I know they're not going to raise stress in use - but I can't 'un-see' their sharpness.
So, two weeks ago tomorrow I delivered the steel.
Last Thursday, I gave them a ring and they prevaricated with excuses which had clearly been explained in emails they had received.
So tomorrow is two weeks on, i'm patient, I want to use local companies, they're only going to make a hundred quid out of it.
Don't want to be sh1tty with them, but want this project to advance...
Be nice, be stroppy, or be patient ?
Exactly. Thanks Mick.If they’re anything like the outfit I use for some of the jobs I don’t have the gear for, you need to keep gentle pressure on them.
Exactly. Thanks Mick.
Good advice.
It's exactly that. In a nutshell, I phone up, it's the English client.I pop in every week I have something with them, if the boss is out I tell one of the guys in the workshop to tell him the Anglais was here again
So I phoned up this afternoon.
Yeah, it's in the process of being done.
Ooh, great, can I collect, this afternoon, tomorrow ?
Neh, we're not sure when it'll be scheduled to be done. We'll let you know...
Hmmm.
Great.
And, the letters to weld on, no, not possible...
You sure he’s not got orcadian ancestry?!I went to see Loic today about three hoops he’s meant to be rolling for me, got the grumpy face and some unintelligible grunts, but he’s promised I’ll have them next week…
I'm waiting for the ends, then I'll bend the flat bar and weld, then I'll measure up, and see where we are.How are the other pieces coming along?
They're lovely Mick,Thread hijack - my friend that dug up a pair of table (machine) legs in her garden has given them to me, so citric or sandblasters, and what do I make with them?

They're lovely Mick,
Pillar drill support, circular saw, grinder, what do you need ?
Sand / grit blasted, or some time with a wire brush on a corded drill ?
I'd be tempted to measure the i.d. of the parallel holes, threaded bar, with steel pipe as spacers.I hate wire wheels, but do keep an old drill for just this sort of thing, though I have a neighbour that will sandblast them for a bottle or two of wine. They’re 75cm high, so could make a good stand for my bandsaw or soon to be acquired grinder.
From the hole layout it looks like they would have had diagonal bracing at some point so should be pretty stable.
