That would be me, when I had a darkroom I used to love watching prints appear in the developer tray but they only took a minute or two not the half a day I understand 3D prints can take.

Edit: reviewing that I see I missed your point entirely, you will enjoy building the printer I think is what you said.

Still got all my kit but have not had a darkroom since the loft conversion, I could print negatives all the way up to 5x4 sheet film and really do miss it.
Edit: I just bought a half decent A3 printer which cost over four times your 3D printer and yes I do sit and watch the prints as they come out of the printer.

I've never connected mine either, just save the file to SD card on your puter then stick the SD card in the printer and let it get on with it

Unless you're planning on making use of the bigger print space/volume, there's not really any point in getting a 5 over a 3.

It's surprisingly easy.
Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi power supply, USB cable, and an SD card for the Pi.

Download OctoPi. Copy to SD card. Change wifi settings in relevant config file. Install SD card in Pi. Connect and power up Pi. Goto octopi.local on a PC. Run through setup process. Click to connect to printer. Upload sliced file to Pi, and click Print.
OctoPrint.org - Download & Setup OctoPrint and GitHub - guysoft/OctoPi: Scripts to build OctoPi, a Raspberry PI distro for controlling 3D printers over the web for full instructions.

If you install the octoprint plugin in Cura, it'll upload directly to the Pi once configured.

But I would suggest sticking to the SD card method for a few prints, so you get some experience with slicing files.
