I did consider getting an old one dipped and stripped and then zinc'd. By the time I had driven up and down the M6 and dropped it off for Zincing I was £50 off a new one.
Not inc any welding that might need doing. Even with a new one it would still need stripping.
I took the view that the old one has lasted since 1999 so the new one with plenty of paint and me filling the cavities with Dinitrol should help preserve for a few years yet.
