Land Rover Defender 110 Rebuild

Yeah, my original thought was to use it to isolate the rear tub floor supports after galvanising, as well as the underside and interior rear tub itself, but now I'm thinking front and second row floors, and footwells. Still undecided about the seat box, though.

Personally, I'd do the seat box if I were you. They always rot really badly. If you're getting it galvanised like I have it'd be the best thing you could do.
It also separates the two dissimilar metals

You could only dream of such possibilities. It'll be done. One day. I really do hate this stage though. Painting is the worst thing.

Ha, yeah it is. I have been trying to avoid painting as much as I can. done the odd bit that was really essential. Ill eventually have to bite the bullet and do it though. Ideally the whole body needs a respray.

Yes I dread to think how much I've spent way over 10k in parts.

I've read, and am beginning to expeiance -

I want to refit a part. Do I accept that its a used part, and imperfect, or do I spend time and or money making it near new?

I'm not going for anywhere near your level of finish, but I can very much see that if you get too close to the "as new" level of finish, then time and money must surely get, well, significant!

With the dubious standard and finish of "new" Land Rover vehicles and parts, I think Kim's going for "better than new". All power to her.

Unfortunately the level you wish to go to is something you'll have to decide. Me as a person, I know I couldn't live with something if I don't do it how I deem to be right.

It's that time again

Spent the day re assembling the seat box and painting a load more bits
I was going to do it last week but realised I didn't have any black sealant. I ordered it and obviously did it this weekend. Riveted from former to corner so I could line it all up without issues. Thankfully it all went smoothly as you can see

Once riveted, I run sealant down the seems and used my finger to press it in, just like the bulkhead. I left that to try. Then sorted some more galavanised bits for paint, painted the seat mounts in the process, once they were tacky I riveted them in place then did a complete coat over the seat box so the rivets were all sealed and not going to corrode.

(Just noticed I hadn't painted the seat box in the pics above, rest assured. I did and it looks amazeballs )
I'm so happy with the outcome of it all. Once it's dried I can get it back up and running then I can paint the rear tub and fit the braces which is one of the last jobs, along with assembling the wings.

With each job done, the nearer it gets to being ready for paint and final assembly

P.s, buying an air river gun was such a good investment ever. Although I skinned my finger really badly when it popped a rivet in one tricker pill and my hand slipped. Let's hope I don't lose a second nail this year won't be happy if I do.

Hehe, we all know I'm not that girly, I just haven't lost a nail since I was about 5 (car door :'( ) and I dread the thought of losing a second one in a year. I'm so clumsy haha

I just got the parts off the line and indoors. I'm super happy with the finish. It'll be so durable along with being such a brilliant sound deadening for the whole thing. I think it'll look good with the whole lower interior done like this. At least it'll be tough.

That's exactly it Dead easy to do. Make sure you wear a mask. Coughing up a storm at the moment.

Anyone can do it. Just need determination. I've lacked a lot recently seeing how little I've done but now it's getting closer I'm getting more determined. Got the wing parts ordered earlier too. They'll be getting under sealed along with the tub next weekend (weather permitting).
