i often wonder what the cost would be to pay a garage to do the work you have done.
the labour alone would be astronomical!

You imagine, by the time I'm done I think I'll be up at 20k in parts. At a guess at least 40k to do this build maybe.i often wonder what the cost would be to pay a garage to do the work you have done.

just think of the shoes and handbags you could have hadYou imagine, by the time I'm done I think I'll be up at 20k in parts. At a guess at least 40k to do this build maybe.
It will indeed. That sounds awesome. I think I'll be putting a multi vain turbo in mines larger intercooler and then have it remapped. Apparently you can get about 250bhp out of them. See what the dyno comes back with.Wow. I thought I had spent a lot on mine!
It will be worth it!
Now you need to think about the engine and put a monster engine and turbo in.
Waaaaay back, when I was in Saudi Arabia, my Dad bought an ex Army Landy. It was stripped and painted etc. We had a 6.2L HMMWV engine for it. Gutted it never got completed. It's still there as far as I know.
Give me some dubarys and some more nice wellies and I'll be happyjust think of the shoes and handbags you could have had
At this rate I'm probably in thousands of hours. It'd be VERY costly going off that figure,When Ed China replaced the chassis / suspension / brakes on a Morgan, i think he said it had taken around 150 hours work. And thats without any bodywork/ painting etc. What dya reckon? £50 per hour would = £7,500 for the labour. Plus vat (£9k then...).
And he's got a 2 post lift...
Nice project, Kim. Very jealous, here, of your diy abilities.
Reading it all....

Thank though
The TD5 outer wings? Can you advise where you bought them? They look similar to some I considered purchasing, but if they don't fit...The bits I bought the other day are going back. They're not going to work.
Maybe next week I will make a little vid if people want. Can do pics too.
There was a lot of umming and arring. I'm awfully forgetful lol. You may just prefer pics with a decent explanation. I don't know haha.I'm surprised you feel the need to ask......

You can PM if you don't want to name them publicly.
Ah, thank you for the info. Now that I've checked out their website, I did notice their product photos are the same as I've seen all over the auction sites. I always wondered how the fit was. They look like AJC made wing outers - they supply SP4x4 / britpart etc. They are a good fit although they could do with being a couple of mm taller as they end up with a very small gap between the wing and will panel.
Just for good measure here's my 110 on Richards chassis. I cheated and bought everything brand new from main dealer apart from truck cab roof and windscreen frame. Still haven't finished it!

As a former St John Ambulance, she's had very few miles put on (I've had her for two years, and only just reached 47,000), but there are more than a few extraneous holes inside from mounting all of the medical cupboards, so I thought I'd just change out all of the panels for good measure.
Nah. According to the documentation I have, it was converted mid-2012, with about 39,000 on the clock. I acquired it with 42,000. Prior to that it served in some fleet capacity, apparently. After I put it away for the winter last year, I pulled the top end to have a look around inside the engine, and everything was tight and cleeeeeeeaaan. (I sometimes disassemble kitchen appliances just to give 'em a clean. Go figure.) I didn't go so far as to pull the engine completely out to inspect the crank and bearing shells and whatnot, but the cylinder honing was nice and strong still. It looks very much the low mileage engine. I do appreciate your input, though; it's an important consideration. It might have low mileage, but like many emergency service vehicles it's has probably been parked with the engine idling for many hours so the wear may not match the mileage.
