I would say that you would have probably been better going to a suitable supplier and asking for anything that may need to be strong in a 10.9 - or even cap head 12.9 if you don't mind hex keys.

I have a 1998 300tdi 110 if you fancy a bit more welding, 
only had 51k on the clock... Most of it on the beach!

No need for welding.
Stuff it full of wood, tape, silicone sealant and filler, apply a liberal coating of underseal followed by a considerable quantity of grease to teach the MOT man to keep his hands away and you're sorted!

Got a tiny bit done today. Took a load of parts for shot blasting. Didn't get tonnes done but I'm almost ready to paint strip and paint, I've not got any bloody paint yet though!!! I'll be calling them tomorrow morning. Was promised it Tuesday.
£35 to get this all shot blasted. Need to get calliper rebuild kits from somewhere. Saw some on fleebay but I'll try genuine ones.
Then pressed some bushings out. Thought its best to do it now before paint. Started by pushing the rubbers out
Then using a hacksaw carefully cut inside the bush and with a chisel just folded it out and it came straight out.
Got the socket stuck in this hole :O didn't realise they were exactly the same size lol
Then doing these was tricky as they didn't have a huge surface for my parallels. Got attacked when it all exploded out too
Here's all the bars de bushed, I left some sleeves in though from the rubber bushes, they are simple to remove and saves masking the holes up
Finally I had the socket so removed the hub then quickly got anxious how much stuff there was so put it back I'll deal with that once I go get some 12point sockets. Tomorrow then 
. Then I think I'll paint strip it all and if I've got pain't I'll paint axles as I'm brush painting them.

They are strange things, like an m shape the middle part of the m goes into a push on clip though

I've got nothing like the one in the middle, but do have some back-to-back clips like the one on the left, I will measure what I've got if they're of any use.

thanks. Not sure if I broke any of those. I know I need every single brake pipe clip, need to work out what they look like though

Wonderful idea. I'll be putting wheels back on once done though I've got a full set of brakes and pads too so will fit new disks then just refit wheels and put callipers on when they are rebuilt

I was looking to re-piston and re-seal the four calipers on my 300 TDi Disco this time last year. In the end I didn't bother as the new calipers complete were sooo cheap from this place http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEFENDER-...350?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e93efecc6
Their Defender ones are slightly more expensive. New discs, calipers and pads for mine all round was somewhere near the £170 mark as I recall. They've been in use a year now and I have no complaints whatsoever. The trader was really genuine too (first time I'd used them). I collected as was passing one day. Worth considering...

Recommend these guys, sadly won't just select the seal kits. Garuntee and pressure tested as depending on how well the brake system was maintained would determine if i replaced or just bought a seal kit. The seal kits I've bought that were not oem I wouldn't recommend from my experience

And if you are going to paint the calipers, outgas them first or as soon as the calipers get hot the will start to lift the paint. That's why powder coating on such parts is way better.

I got a quote for genuine front callipers was about £360 each, then fears were £160. I don't want Britpart callipers. I'm going to buy after marked bearmache (sp) rebuild kits, works out to be about £50 in total.
What's outgas ? I need to buy some heat sensitive paint though.
I'm going kunifer and making them myself
