Not sure if I am correct, but I think Kim is only 23, which to me is the really impressive fact. I wouldn't have had the confidence to start such a big project from scratch at that age. I am feeling out I'd depth with my car project and that had an mot before I started prodding it with a screwdriver.

Yup I'm only 23 guess I just had allot of help from brothers and stuff to learn the things I do as well as my apprenticeship.

MY LAD who is 26 filled full, his girlfriends car engine with water I said why?, AH I see ------you could'nt find any 710, was that coz the yellow filler cap was on upside down ??
one step son 24 could'nt change his underpants without putting them on backwards let alone change a spark plug.
and the other cant do anything---- coz his hands are stuck------- under the blankets most days .
and me being a mechanic

when I was 12 i was buildin m/bikes and at 21, I was building rally cars and driving thousands of miles to likes of cyprus ,greece and most of europe or the like, towing the rally cars and having to get through all the various border controls etc etc.
it makes my blood boil ------we need an angry old fogie smilie

Hi everyone,
Update time I know you've all been waiting, sorry
Today has been a normal clumsy day in the life of me lol, messed up so much but in the end, well you'll see ...
Started last night but didn't get much done so began by installing the bearing races into the ball housing, the easiest way I found was tapping it so it stuck in place then using my dads wood vice I pressed them in

Then using the grease for the swivel housing I smothered the bearing in them and fitted the ball into a vice ready to set up the swivel tension

Then after setting it I pulled it apart and fitted the drive shaft then realised I could've done it together. Live and learn I guess.

Put sealant on stub then fitted gasket and did the same and torqued them all down

Big milestone putting it on and sorting the steering out finally!!

Sorted the other side as well but realised the bearing spacers being a td5 were incorrect so rather than order loads of new spacers at £7 each i ordered a load of new nuts for £5 for all the axles and I'll set them the old fashion way

Super pleased how amazing the whole front end looks

Finally! A long two months later so many rubbish days working on it. It rolls once more!!!

I must confess some how the seal got split on the swivel housing, I only noticed once I got it on but it infuriated me as you can imagine so had to order another. Lucky it was cheap

Anyway that's it for now tomorrow I'll do a bit more have some actual work to do though :'(

Think I'd have been tempted to reset the split to the top of the swivel and see if it leaks. Bet if you're using the one shot grease it wont.
Lots of people used to short cut and cut swivel seals to replace them rather than remove a full swivel housing and half shaft.

Oh really ? Maybe I'll do that and if it leaks I'll replace with the new seal ive ordered but it's greased not oiled
