Cut the hose as a spiral and it'll be easy to install, and you can get all the branches out without having to chop it up.

Great idea, I'll try this but dont know how flexable it will be and tbh once I get it out of the chassis I can cable tie it fast to the bodywork so shouldn't need to worry about the ends so much.

There are many commercial solutions to sleeving cables. Spiral wrap is probably the cheapest, but there are woven varieties that you can pull branch cables through. There's even a zipper version:

That's just over complicating a simple solution
I think. And rubber pipe will probably be much better then that.

I've used loads of stuff like this in internal cable forms in machinery cabinets:

Same type of stuff is used to reinforce hydraulic hoses. It's quite difficult to put it on neatly. I expect sliced rubber tube will present the same issue.

I dunno, if making a loom isn't your thing then buying is he best option, it should (in theory) be easy to fit and work first go.

You did spend more on that loom than my latest car cost me to buy tho

Just don't have space to spread it out and don't want the stress of it, the build is stressful enough haha

I knew a entire loom wasn't going to be cheap,
I have also used 7 core in various colours and thicknesses for looms too easy to keep track of

Yes, 7 core is a good suggestion. Years ago I rewired much of the wife's 88" Landy with trailer wire, it's only about a £1 a metre and dedicated junction boxes under £6. Ready sheathed for long runs too!

That's not really possible with this, td5 has allot of wiring

Also no bill not cheap. Going to be nice when done though. I'm super excited to hear it run.

i have used 4 or 5 runs of 7 core trailer cable and runs of alarm cable for low voltage sensors

Hi everyone,

So finally I managed to sort the loom. During the week I received the pipe. (I thought this was the easiest option and with the hopefully have the longest life before rubbing into the loom.
I fitted all the pipe in the living room haha.
Today I went and found some rigid ish wire my dad had. I fed that through the chassis in within a couple mins

Then I attached the loom to it. I didn't take any pictures but the way I do it (for those that have never done it) is to cut down the wire (the wire I'm using to pull it through) pull one internal wire down one way. Then pull the other up the other way of the loom. Tape them both down. Then tape the rest of the wire in the direction you pull from. This stops it pulling out half way through the job.
Anyway got it through now. Just need to work out how far through it needs to be

Gone to sit down for a bit, I'll go finish it shortly and begin plugging it in not very interesting in pics but very satisfying for me

dielectric grease, I use the stuff made by quicksilver, marine grade and the dogs doo das, used it on all the enduro bikes and my road bikes...

I just looked at some, said it was Vaseline so I'm going to use that. Can't see that causing any issues ?

Dielectric grease on the plugs/sockets, do it while they're new and you won't have to touch them again

It will all melt out on the first warm day it doesn't handle temperature, silicone grease is the one mostly used. Just use it as a sealant round the connector.
