so would a starlock washer hold it in place? Probably not if it's one of these, but if you remade the clip so it fitted over the shaft and was located by it, put a spring underneath it to give it positive pressure against the starlock washer then it may work

Righto guys, I did a little bit more!

Just realised I didn't take many pictures though :/.
So much to my displeasure I tacked the little leavers on to the heater matrix. Like many others I gave up, I did however manage to keep the area small and relatively low heat so that's a plus. I masked them up and just sprayed the raw metal with a few coats of black paint.

Then while the welder was out I took the ignition barrel off and welded to the stuck threads until there was a bit of a raised area, then put the nuts over and finally welded to that, they came out nice and easy, I cleaned the threaded holes out with a tap and re fitted it. I didn't let the sacurity bolts snap off though, I'm changing the ignition so I have four matching door locks later in the build. I'll leave it for now till I get closer with the doors

Finally I put the air box mount on

it clears the bulkhead just fine and looks super! I need to clean the airbox before fitting however! I also need to clean the heater rad so that's tomorrow's job and maybe I can fit them both too

and sort the wiring loom out!

P.s, slight issue with the steering bar, I will have it Wednesday to full finish the steering

and potentially all the controls for that matter! (Other then the handbrake :/

I hate messing around. I cannot wait to pull it out and tidy up. Need to spend a day tidying everything when I can!

Spent this morning finishing the main bit of the heater matrix, I still need to decide what I'll do with the fan housing.
Anyway I cleaned the heater rad, cut some foam how it was before then slid it into place

Then sorted the bottom retaining plates out

Finally with a bit of jiggery pokery I managed to get it mounted

I really don't advise getting a Britpart heater to bulkhead seal. They seem to be so wrong! It made fitting really fiddly but al the holes lined up nicely thankfully :laughing:

I managed to find a new genuine sticker for the front too, it finishes it of nicely.

I've had to stop now, I may do a bit more later, need to fit the hi/low selector linkage.

It's got allot of surfice rust al over it. But unlike mine it's not got holes in it. I'm thinking about stripping it and getting it powder coated then re cover it!

powder coating will show up any pin pricks of rust, maybe better filled and painted if you want it to look posh

It's going to be hidden by the vinyl or leather (depending on what I fit).

Anyway just managed to do a bit more.
For starters I got my new genuine cubby box

unfortunately it's been damaged in transit.

Also received nice new steering connecting rod thingy.

Fitted that with a bit of fiddling. Managed to get the steering stem bolted down fully

It looks good. Still can't 100% work how the wiring sits around the bulkhead. I'll study the pics I took when stripping.
Also I fitted the diff lock stuff but having and issue with the diff lock one which is irritating me

might be worth using some back to black, peanut butter (smooth), or sme other back to black bit on your bulk head rubber gator will make them look like new and match the rest then

Uhh I remember hearing that trick years ago! I'll do that I think. I need to spend an afternoon sorting the wiring and working out where it sits

and the earths, I can't remember what they bolt to haha

I'd not use peanut butter on the rubber - it's good on plastics, but rubber......? :confused:

Been a long day today. I went to near Brighton. Collected a tdci double cab roof

and all the roof liner. It cost £600 but was £350 cheaper then the breaker so not all bad.

The guy I bought it from was quite nice, he had a td5 dcpu which was his own, I managed to get some pictures of where the loom goes, I found what one of the brackets I have does, typica though, I can't find it now :mad:

Also say in it, he has air con which takes up a fair bit of room and but I couldn't believe how spacious it was. Im pleased I've chosen this path for it now!
Anyway when I got home I started doing some bits to Lou, I don't actually have any pics, it was mainly just silly litte jobs. They're so time consuming but each job done is a step closer to completion

Can anyone tell me what this thing is called ? Or where I can buy a couple ?

I may put the seat box on tomorrow, or just in place at least. I think that's all I need to fit now then I can look at starting it. Fingers crossed for a nice day tomorrow :scared:

Not really a massive update.
Again like before I've been doing loads of small boring jobs. They're all dead time consuming. I wrote a to do list. Just trying to go through it, unfortunately there's not much to be seen for you all.
Cleaned the air box today. Sorted the engine breather, fitter the wiper motor. Yesterday I put the top part of the dash and put the seatbox roughly in place.
I attempted to get it running but still had a big earth fault. I was trawling through my pics and noticed something that was mounted on the bulkhead and managed to find where the big earth fault was coming from. Stupidly I thought this was a blanked off connector but it's a whole lot of earth wires.

As soon as I earthed it al the dash lit up. Everything started working

all the indicators and stuff showed up on the dash, lights etc all worked. I went to fire it and it didn't do anything other than click once. I decided rather than mess around while the wiring is all lose that I'd bolt it all down properly and mount it for the final time.
Had a bit of an issue with lost tools I need so called it a day but hopefully this week we will see it run for the first time since Jan 2015

I'm also waiting for some rubber grommets to blank the holes I have to drill in the bulkhead to cavity wax it. Once that's done I can look at bolting everything properly to the dash.

As I say, fingers crossed this week will see some big milestones reached! It's going to turn out just wonderful.

P.s I mounted the slam panel and went to fit the bonnet release but cannot remember how the cable runs through the dash much to my annoyance, I asked on the LR group and someone said around the footwell :doh:

I thought better of putting a sarcastic response :rolleyes:
