I thought that the LEZ compliance regarding seating depended on how it was described when it came out of the factory, not how it's been modified? Obviously I must be wrong ???

So KimB was is on the log book on your vehicle does it say PLG Estate, only ask because the argument was it could not be changed unless anyone knows differently? this was the problem with a lot of Land Rovers, all the Chassis were stamped as utility or what ever even if the vehicle was made into a estate, and at first (not heard any differently) that once it was stamped they would not alter it? hence there has been a big argument over this, because the same engine and gearbox etc is in a Estate and a pick up on was ok the other was not? you really need to make sure what is and isn't possible.

Apart from engine number and fuel type DVLA are extremely reluctant to change details.

you would be able to change it to a campervan but you must be able to prove certain things, cooking facilities (a small gas hob) a bed of 6ft (folding is fine) potable water tanks ect. all easy to do in a discreet manner.

Just to clear up all three previous posts. I called DVLA yesterday, the Defender is the only car in the UK that you can change the body type on. All you have to do is send log book, pics of the outside and inside with a covering letter. They will then asses it and change it accordingly. HTH

That's partially incorrect. I think it's either 55 or 06 when tax increases. Those years are all allowed in anyway. Mine will stay the same price.

Yes they said it'll be okay and on a defender forum someone with a DCPU (from factory) commented saying his is fine and his is same year as mine.

That's what I was talking about. Road tax increased in 2006 I'm sure, the first Range Rover sports were £250 roughly on a 55 plate, and on I think an 06 plate they were £450.
Depends on year. Mine's 2000 so will be fine
