Lidl Parkside Socket and tool set. Thoughts please.

I have a number of "King Dick" spanners. I get ThAT LOOK when I get them from the toolbox (she knows I have others).

The only Parkside tool I have is the 3/8 ratchet like the one in the set shown
Only got it as a spare , then lost my Snap-on 3/8 ratchet so I had to use the Parkside for a few weeks
gave it loads of abuse expecting it to break but it didn't
Also found taking it apart and oiling the ratchet made it feel a lot smoother

The last decent Britool gear IMO was the stuff I mentioned earlier with the red writing on black handles, and satin chrome finish. As soon as they started with the ‘Expert’ nonsense I lost interest and moved on. It’s a shame really that these brands are gobbled up, diluted down and then lost altogether.

I had a 1/2" breaker bar with that satin finish and black handle which broke. I loved it and was gutted when the end broke away just doing a wheel nut one day. Fair play to the local Britool dealer he didn't hesitate in swapping it but I got a shiny one with a blue handle and it's just not the same it just feels cheap. I still have the longer version in satin though and that one has the replaceable head that always breaks before the bar.

Mine has a very slight bend in it but that’s from using it with a scaffold pole to undo a stuck hub nut.... It was a side of the road job and I didn’t have anything heavier duty so I had to reluctantly abuse it!

I actually have a set of 3/8 deep ‘Expert’ sockets, they must have been too cheap not to buy. Like you say though they don’t look or feel the same and the bling chrome finish does nothing for me.

I would rather walk further for my facom one than use them tbh
Tbh I have used a lot of brands although only in small quantities and I do think facom have the best ergonomics of any tool they are all just such comfortable tools to use

I bought a Halfords one as a replacement for a very old Proto one, the head flopped about all over the place. I drilled down the handle & fitted a ball & spring, then used the tip of a drill to put 3 detents in. Turned it into a nice usable ratchet.

No i think you are right thought it might have been that.

I have my grandpa's king dick shifter and a few stubby spanners i bought id luke to get some more they are really good and you can never have too many spanners

I do think facom have the best ergonomics of any tool they are all just such comfortable tools to use

Most of my cutters and snips are Facom. They are for more comfortable that most everything else, in my opinion.
