They can be. You can get different attachments for them. Wide forks etc.
I just tend to view them as a strong man. They aren’t as versatile as a crane or hoist but they’re easy to use on your own and easy to move about.
They do a rough terrain one with pneumatic wheels I seem to remember

forgive the drawing, in any case I would have to make a sheet metal roof over a reinforced concrete slab, on one side there would be the railway, therefore I cannot place cranes, maximum a scaffolding, on the other a busy road, two buildings are built on the short sides , the attic in question is located on the second floor, therefore at about 10 meters high, plus the pillars and trusses, take into account about 12 meters, I think you are right at that height because of the wind effect it would be more plausible and reasonable to use a classic crane, that column with pulleys and cables at those heights would risk overturning, I think it does not have a large support base or a ballast weight, I would have to use adH type ipe beams or metal tubular boxes.
