well guys I've acquired a Lincoln sae 300 gen set welder it was my dads he used years ago and he pretty much just left it to rot and with conversation he remembered he had one.
pros it did turn over so nothing is seized.
cons
it's rotten
it's tank was full of water which ran in to the filters
and if it works it's gunna need work

I've managed to get the tank out off drained and new filters on it.
some ones robbed the dynamo off it and water hoses so got to try and find new ones but I've been told the fordson major engine is bomb proof so hopefully all good but the windings xyz but until it's running I can't go much further but the tank I managed to break the tap so I got to re thread the bottom or weld a new socket in it.
but I'm a head of my self but I want either to go all black with new chrome plates or rat it but I'm no where near there yet

dont look too bad sometimes the liner to block seals dry out and seep water into the sump can be cured sometimes with Kseal in the rad check the carbon brushes are in good nick and free to move clean copper slip ring with fine glasspaper not emery and scrape out the crud between the segments with a tool fashioned out a hacksaw blade.
the small generator part on the end might need momentary flashed if its lost its residual magnetism anybody into generator repair or motor rewinders will keep you right . the exhaust pointing down is good as the water wont have got into the bores engine spares are no problem and are pretty bulletproof unless they are beasted full bore all day on arc air duty seen a few going bang

funny enough mate I've got a spare engine spare tractor but some as hole helped them selves to parts when I was away

i think the governors guvnor are different on the tractor i remember a cousin who put an ex compressor engine in his major and when he took it out on a road test it would rev up then shut down and vice versa it was trying hold a constant rpm easy to swop out though

not sure what u mean but the engine on the welder is a ford major engine and I have got the same year tractor which is still a ford major engine driven tractor

when you load up the jenny it makes it harder for the engine to turn it so there is a centrfugal system that drives the fuel pump and compensates by giving it more fuel / throttle to keep the engine speed constant/ big bark and puff of black smoke goes with it

got the same machine ..used it twice this week.there big n noisy but run forever ..have a bullet in the shop which is the same welder just driven with an electric motor .. we have fancy inverter sets etc but i prefer the old school .

Not now......phone Lincoln and ask. As I said we couldnt sell them here but we could export them so we had data sheets etc. Ask for David Kirkwood.
Is there nothing on the Lincoln web site........American site maybe

i searched a bit when i got ours but couldnt find anything? only downside is lack of 110v power .im lead to beleave theres 110v dc .same supply that excites the windings?? correct me if im wrong

it did have 110 sockets but some f***Tard robbed the dynamo that generated the 110v power

see what i can do? when you say dynamo do you mean the other small one run off the main welding one? if so thats used to excite the main welders windings.. i took the sockets off ours as they will run a power tool but they dont last long ..i cant seem to find any info on them and the usa are different ..

No they were built in the States but we could export to countries they couldnt.......Libya and the like
