I have the original covers for them. It's next on the list of to do.Tis a good looking machine, but those gears are waiting for some spectators fingers, or yours!
Yes. They never had covers from factory but it is something I do need to addressI was just thinking the screws want covers on them to stop the swarf dropping in.
It's close. But just about workable. Will have to turn from the centre outwards as I run out of travel .That looks very close to the limit and a good example of camera angle making the possible appear impossible.
Handy things them. I use mine all the time when cutting to length. Mines a bar you simply lock where you need it with a wing nut.Had to make a little carriage stop today. Nothing to exciting but does what it needs to do.View attachment 138086 View attachment 138087 View attachment 138088
Am planning on making one for the Mellor. But a different design to this one.Handy things them. I use mine all the time when cutting to length. Mines a bar you simply lock where you need it with a wing nut.
Picture please. The Brimel lathe was made by Mellor but had a few extra bits like a large capstan attachment and it came with a carriage stop. Sort of how I will do mineThe Drummond M has a handy design in that regard. The bar which engages/disengages the dog clutch has a movable arm on it which causes the dog clutch to be disengaged when the saddle/apron hits it.
Have the same sort of thing on mine. Need to make a new one up for the tailstock end though. The Drummond M has a handy design in that regard. The bar which engages/disengages the dog clutch has a movable arm on it which causes the dog clutch to be disengaged when the saddle/apron hits it.
Got ya. Yes that is a good idea definitely
It's doing but God it is a hard lump. What's not happening?
