I got the paint off. I use wire wheel in the drill. Gets the teeth clean. These ones in good condition. Just got two more to do .
It is actually 110 and 174 tpi for the fine feeds, I checked this afternoon.Hum the Drummond lists 130 tpi and 160 tpi (from memory) as the fine feeds which is ( a very approximate ) 5.2 and 6.4 tp mm or 0.19 and 0.15 mm per rev if I have worked it out correctly. Which would fit in with your 0.15 mm/rev and co incidentally does give a nice finish with a .2mm rad insert on a one or two inch diameter bit of steel be it EN1 or silver steel does not seem to matter.
That would be at about 500 or 700 rpm I have not worked out the gearing yet as it is a non Drummond lay shaft and the ratios of the lay shaft pulleys do not match those on the spindle.
They can go more. I was just looking at how far before contact. The chuck is roughly 5 1/2 inches in diameter and that's a good size. I wouldn't use em right out.But would you want to use it like that? The jaws must be half way off the scroll.
I need a new wire wheel for my bench grinder. So had to resort to the hand drill wire wheelsBit late now but a wire wheel on a bench grinder is the way to clean changewheels, very quick.
I trying Matt. But not on my ball game at the moment as not very well. These antibiotics make me feel a bit crud.Seeing your progress makes me think that I really ought get cracking on with my M type again.
Have an old Hitachi angle drill. Perfect for wire brushes. About the only thing I use it for these days.I need a new wire wheel for my bench grinder. So had to resort to the hand drill wire wheels
Not many grinders come with speed control. My old Bosch did but the new one doesn't have.Have an old Hitachi angle drill. Perfect for wire brushes. About the only thing I use it for these days.
Speed control and a proper on off switch. Bit unwieldy In a standard drill.

Come on Matt. It's hard to get motivated at times I no. But once you get past it all be good. You're still well outdoing me on progress. I really need to get myself motivated. I've done practically sod all in the shed for ages now.
16 dp. Will measure this morning@spencer 427 What's the internal bore and DP on those gears? I have a set languishing here which I bought back when I had the old R&A lathe. They don't fit the ML7 so I'm planning the 'Bay for them as soon as I get one of those famous 'roundtoit's
In fact I mentioned them on here a while back but no-one seemed interested.
