Spencer, do your have a threaded adapter the same as your spindle nose? If not, you'd be better off machining one first so that you have something to test the thread with. Also, it's a very good idea to make yourself a go-no go gauge for the plain register.

I am doing that now seadog. Was seeing how it sat in the jaws but all good.

Hi guys.
My marlco knurling tool turned up today. Had to strip it down for a clean up and grease. But otherwise all good. It came with a set of wheels. I will get a extra set of course medium and fine wheels. No doubt I'll have fun in learning how to use it.

I been after one for ages. I had to bid hard for it but was determined to get it. Did miss a nice Jones and shipman the other week.

Yes that's the trouble. The list grows longer and never shortage. Got collet chuck and backplate .Just got to machine it. The milling slide I got eyes on is designed for a slightly bigger centre height. If it don't fit then I have to make it fit.

If it doesnt fit could take the compound off and mount to the crosslide direct. Would make for a stiffer setup too.

That's what I did before I got my mill, big webbed angle plate bolted to cross-slide tee slots, top-slide bolted to that and a long tee-nut in the top-slide slot to bolt a vice to, worked well enough. I brought the tailstock up to support the bracket with a nylon button in it, added a bit of rigidity.

It was on eBay. But was listed under marlco .I ended up paying £87 total.

Today I picked up my Mellor lathe I brought for spares. Some great spares to. Fixed steady that's good dust. And the power cross feed gear and handle. Only bit missing is the little tapered collet that sits inside. Should be easy to make.

Started the strip down of the spares Mellor . And noticed a few original parts mine don't have. The large metal plate that holds the motor. This one is original. So will get cleaned and painted and used. It also has the original flat belt pulley.
