That sounds very much like my brother's mate, who's official title is a bench joiner, and regularly makes what you mention, but he only goes on site when needed, as the installation isn't his strong point. His expertise is taking the plans, and turning them in to physical lumps of wood, ready for the installer.a mate of mine had a house built all oak stairs and rails oak kitchen and doors by a joiner . hardly a site monkey or a chancer . served his time and worked for years at mousey thompsons it doesnt get any better. he built a massive conservatory out of green oak roof was built on floor and lifted on with a crane weighing 3 tone
i love them wish i had bought one 50 years ago .so fast having said that i liked joinery and virtualy everything was hand cutThat sounds very much like my brother's mate, who's official title is a bench joiner, and regularly makes what you mention, but he only goes on site when needed, as the installation isn't his strong point. He knows how to install and can do it, but he'll admit he's not the quickest, as it's not something he has to do very often.
It's all about knowing what you can do, and what your limitations are.
A lot these days, but they’re not joiners they’re odd job men tempted by the moneyI know plenty of joiners or as they are called here site monkeys who can frame a complete roof in 2 days and be within 5mm corner to corner, i know this as i have tiled the roofs. Not all site joiners are monkeys.
I'll swap you if you want because I feel the same about my job.As for metal work every night I pray to die in my sleep so I don’t have to go to the workshop
Sounds a massive improvementI'll swap you if you want because I feel the same about my job.
I'll bet you'll regret swapping with me though once you've spent a couple of weeks shuffling bits of paper and endlessly trying to get young lads and lasses that aren't interested in their apprenticeships to do what you need them to do.
The grass isn't always greener on the other side, maybe easier, but not always better.
Ai, roofer knows if it’s right or not.I know plenty of joiners or as they are called here site monkeys who can frame a complete roof in 2 days and be within 5mm corner to corner, i know this as i have tiled the roofs. Not all site joiners are monkeys.
Ime getting to feel the same about my job,but i do fancy waking up each morning though I honestly feel i have not fell out of love with my job but fell out of love trying to make a living against ever increasing odds They, whoever they are have almost succeeded in taking the fun out of 8 till 5 as at the end of the week when things have been paid its then you realize it's all been for f$&k all, the worry, the struggle, the late nights when your up till 2am planning the next strategy. 10 years ago it was all worth the effort but not anymore.A lot these days, but they’re not joiners they’re odd job men tempted by the money
Obviously there are good ones but they’re in demand and short supply around my way
Probably the only thing I enjoy is cutting a roof on the floor and putting it up , maths and geometry are your friends. I genuinely love it

That sounds to me like another way of saying “ its time for a change”Ime getting to feel the same about my job,but i do fancy waking up each morning though I honestly feel i have not fell out of love with my job but fell out of love trying to make a living against ever increasing odds They, whoever they are have almost succeeded in taking the fun out of 8 till 5 as at the end of the week when things have been paid its then you realize it's all been for f$&k all, the worry, the struggle, the late nights when your up till 2am planning the next strategy. 10 years ago it was all worth the effort but not anymore.

You could apply for the job at # 11 Downing Street - it's a 'tied house' though......but I must warn you there’s no money left after paying for everything.
Need to hang on for another 2 years then boots getting hung upThat sounds to me like another way of saying “ its time for a change”
