Now for the third method and If we need even more organic shapes we can use forms - a form can be considered a solid controlled by splines. We're going to use the same trapezium sketch as a guide and to generate the centre cutout. Being organic the sculpting is generally not so precise. we start by placing a form box - it's like a smooth edged box. We set symmetry so changes to one side are automatically reflected on the other and we also want the bottom flat so we delete the bottom faces which turns it from solid to open surface

Now we start manipulating faces and edges to bring the shape to what we want and cut out the central section and it's complete:

I actually did quite well today. I felt really really tired today and only woke up at 11.15. definately got some form of stomach bug so I decided to take things easy and watched a couple more chapters in my udemy course. I also watched the video I think posted by Hood. Using the 3 plus some bits posted by @daedalusminos I was able to complete 2 shorts quizzes with 100% answers. Not that impressive as I am sure I will forget my tomorrow.
I definitely dont like splines as I did not understand those at all. Loft takes a bit of getting your head round but revolve seems useful.

I now understand there are differences between some shapes and the ones called solid primitives dont need sketches. But I dont yet know how these work as parametric model parts? (as there are no dimensions /sketches in the time line.

I am not going to claim to remember anything tomorrow or claim to be able to model much still ,but at least I feel empowered (Damn I hate that word)

Next up is advanced sketching it would seem..

As an FYI that edge would be considered a fall from height risk at work and require a handrail. By affixing anything you can trip over you've actually added a second risk.

My M&Ds is almost identical. Dad did drive off the edge a couple of times.
