Moles

Moles have been visiting for a few years now and plays havoc with out garden and would like to get rid of them , any tips. I've tried trapping with moderate effect. I've tried a small radio tuned to radio 4, no results. I'm into crushed garlic in the tunnel, no results. The current visiting pest seems to go round in circles as if it has one hand bigger than the other so proves difficult to find a straight tunnel to place the trap into. Thinking of dynamite next but thought I'd ask for advice first.

You need to get them checked out if they start to bleed or change colour I believe. SWMBO has a weird one on her back that a single coarse hair grows from. Rather like Brundlefly...

being serious a scissor mole trap . get a steel rod and push it in the ground between the mole hills when u find the run the rod will fall in the hole easily dig a round hole down with a trowel . there only about 4 inch down . set the trap in with the top just above ground level and fill the hole with loose soil the moles travel along the runs colecting worms that fall in .check the trap each day if its gone off just pull it out and mister mole will be skewewrd between it . best not touch the trap with your hands and leave a new one to go rusty then set it ive been called out to a fair few

I’ve just dealt with a mole in our garden, run was nearly a foot down. Took some finding

Trapping is the best way. As brightspark says find the run and put a scissor trap in. Make sure the run is clean of spoil or the mile Willie push that into the trap and set it off, missing him

Being unserious again, I'd be tempted to buy that Anvil someone was flogging on here the other day and go at it Roadrunner styleeee.

Precariously suspended anvil, sign pointing to pile of mole food, and bobs your uncle. I can't imagine what could possibly go wrong.

a punter who i do electrical work for had some on there new lawn there son who i know a police sergeant said rambo might do em and laughed he knows i have guns and go out on farms they rang me and laughed when i said i did . i didnt know they nicknamed me it

i had infestation in my field loads of hills popping up every nite rang my country sport mate up and said i had major infestation . he said it would just be one so i set the trap . he was corect just the one

I prefer the tunnel trap, rub hands and trap in a mole hill before excavating tunnel (use a screwdriver to locate). Use a spade to dig out a plug slightly larger than trap. Position set trap and sprinkle soil on top and cover with an upturned black bucket. Set multiple traps to maximise chance of catch.

Mrs Goole told me they are very territorial. I am curious how long it will be before a new one finds this now virgin territory.

I'll keep you posted else you will die of a toxic mix of anticipation and boredom.

I had one black, one white and one yellow 'bucket'.

Obviously.

If the anvil trick doesn't work, your other option is to paint some fake molehills on your lawn and paint a picture of a train tunnel with a light at the end of it on your house wall.

When the mole comes out, it'll see the tunnel picture, think a trains coming and leg it. Thinking safety lies under the nearest mole hill, it'll make towards your painted mole hills. But when it tries to dive down your fake hole, it'll get knocked unconscious on the hard ground and you can then dispatch of it via your new anvil.

Seriously, I can't see an issue with either of my plans. Not only will you get rid of the mole, but you'll also have a new anvil and some class video footage to flog to you tube.
