Might be significant that they have both recently gone through divorce / separation.
yea then a week later your looking on ebay and see 1 of the item you remember was in these boxes in the loft that you have just thrown away go for £50its strangely satisfying after you’ve done the deed.
Ive sold two of mine, they were just in the roundtooit section, still have two more......dont need the space or the money, but seems pointless sometimes to keep them collecting dustSelling my motorcycles was a huge wrench for me but I got over it and bought the Centec the workshop is my refuge in an uncertain world
I had to give up riding due to medical issues. I last rode in 2017 but it has taken until last year to actually sell them. It hit me quite hard at the time but as you say, they were only gathering dust!Ive sold two of mine, they were just in the roundtooit section, still have two more......dont need the space or the money, but seems pointless sometimes to keep them collecting dust
She Who Must Be ObeyedSWMBO ???
We were at that stage where we (SWMBO) wanted to down size and move to a bungalow - I'd taken early retirement due to health.
So went from 1300sq ft semi to 3000sq ft bungalow - some down size
The only down sized room was the garage - but at least it's now ALL mine as a workshop, instead of her car, my trailer and a very small working area, when SWMBO was at work.
It wouldn't surprise me that there are some who are only thinking of greasing the stairs.Awww, bless her - she was only thinking of your future well-being, no stairs, see.....
That sounds like quite the journey! I am hoping for a more serene passage to our new placeOur move ended up taking 15 months (another story), but half way through I moved all my garage bits into storage in Peterborough from Croydon, the rest of the house contents what was boxed into storage in Croydon - the same one that burnt down about 6 months after we moved.
I sold the Hartford mill as it was too heavy to move easily with my box trailer, but kept the L5a lathe.
Then I needed to turn up a couple of top hat's for the steam injector pipework, so had to go and get lathe, do the turning and take the lathe back again - I needed to make sure everything worked and was water/steam tight after silver soldering the pipes - otherwise I might have got somebody to turn them up for me and I was against the clock for time - no injector , no run the miniature traction engine. That finished off that season's traction engine show.
What really caused us problems was me having bowel surgery 8 weeks before moving - having just bought a motorhome - and little time to get used to driving it with a trailer.
When we moved on the Tuesday to Lincolnshire, furniture arrived on the Wednesday and on the Friday we set off for Shrewsbury for the bank holiday week end, leaving a bungalow full of unopened boxes, last show that season - wasn't allowed into garage/workshop for 3 months, that was the deal for going to Shrewsbury.
Winchboy is selling his, its looking like one will stay but for his age he has done well on the collecting scale 5 1/2 bikes I am hoping he goes down to one! ( I will still have 5 though)Selling my motorcycles was a huge wrench for me but I got over it and bought the Centec the workshop is my refuge in an uncertain world
This thread is making me uneasy as i cant stop buying and storing it away..for what reason i don't know but i do know it cant keep going on as the clock it ticking away and the future has no certainty for all of us. Sold my bikes this year and just have one left and the wife has one also and i feel ok with that, so maybe it could be the start of another train of thought of clearing out as we creep into the last 3rd of this journey
I did not read this...I did not read this...I did not read thisThere is the ten year rule that applies to hoarding , if you have not needed, wanted or used it in ten years its needs to go. Probably true of wives and partners as well.
