The new EWM wire is 1.2 5356, when it comes.
I use the 1.0mm super6 wire with a standard 1.2 tip, I'm not daft enough to use a 1.2a lol.
I will try a 1.0 tip on the 1.0 wire.
I've just about finished the platform job today, I wanted to experiment with tips etc but I also just wanted to crack on without any birds nests, so ran it the way I've always done with a 1.2 tip. I did try the standard pulse and twin pulse - it runs nicely in those modes with around +6 arc length. It also runs fine in speed pulse.
It seems that its only speed twin pulse that doesn't play ball... Yet it worked perfectly with the original wire reel and a 1.4 tip... Strange.
Yeah I don't see a problem per se with needing to adjust the arc length, like you say its not a huge voltage change, and that's what it's there for. It doesn't feel right, running more than say 10...15 sounds like a big number
Anyway it might be a week or so before I get back to the machine, got a busy week at work and silaging end of next week too... Shame cos I want time to fiddle and test things
No I didn't... That would make a lot of sense! It does seem to stutter on the background current, peak seems fine.On the SpeedTwin there is also a setting to set the arc length for the back ground current. It’s not there for the regular TwinPulse only SpeedTwin. Did you also set that? It should be similar to what you set for the peak
That’s you’re problem I’d betNo I didn't... That would make a lot of sense! It does seem to stutter on the background current, peak seems fine.
Twinpulse was their first double pulse, then they bought out the speed processes, updated versions if you like. Now they’re on SpeedPulse XT and TwinPulse XT.What is the difference between SpeedTwin and TwinPulse?
You sure it is Orange?I was welding in the standard pulse yesterday to try it out and my cousin walked in. He said, that seems way quieter and smoother than the Miller pulse.
Then I put it into speed pulse, and it's slightly quieter again.
Interesting that he could spot a difference, he's an engineer but doesn't weld, so the only difference to him is that I'm using an orange machine instead of blue, and it's got more fiddly buttons...
I'd love an XT machine, but I know that what I've got here is way more machine than I am welder anyways!
The XT versions have another parameter, arc dynamics, as well as arc length. I didn't have much chance to play with it when we hired one, and my machine doesn't have it. I don't think I have the skills or work that needs it, though. So is it just the later versions have more configurability or ?
You sure it is Orange?
Speedpulse is a better version of standard pulse. No extra adjustments beyond arc length, at least none I can see in the manual.I was really meaning the difference between SpeedPulse and TwinPulse when I was asking if the difference was just ability to configure.
You should adjust the setting until the wire is 1mm off the pool in all pulse processesArc length numbers are a %, 0 = 100%, and is adjustable by main control knob or in the background menu, between 60-140%. Presumably because if you want more than 40% extra voltage, your wire/gas/setup isn't right for that program anyway.
So if I'm using speed twinpulse, and I find I want say +10 arc length, I should go into the background menu and adjust "S-twinP arc length cn.2" to 110% as well?
Yeah that's my rule of thumb for pulse, I probably learnt it off you or Matt on this forum at some point in the last few years lolYou should adjust the setting until the wire is 1mm off the pool in all pulse processes
