Very good job just read it from start to finish, I should get on with my projects!

drivers side lower subframe mount repair this weekvertical bit at the bottom repaired

then started making the underside piece, folded up some 1.2mm steel stretched by hand and "shrunk" with some visegrips i adapted

more stretching a little at a time and shrinking the top part

i think that'll do it

put in a drain slot

just needs the excess trimming off the edge, painting inside then

repair panel painted on inside and holes made for plug welding

some tack welds then short seam welds

fully welded and plug welds from inside the wheel arch

ready for grinding

might start the passenger side at the weekend

i also made the inner sill. i'd also managed to get hold of a n/s door post panel so decided to make a copy for the offside, it's a bit rough but will be painted in stonechip so should be okView attachment 26470

That's a real shame. I have spoken to so many different companies about these damn A Posts but nobody has any. If I can't find some I might be forced to just scrap the car. Everything else I have found, but these just can't seem to replicated???? Driving me nuts. Thanks anyway.

well nearly 5 months since i updated this project i thought i'd try and show you all where i'm upto as of now. i finished the nearside subframe mount

and worked my way through all the remaining jobs and that's left me with a rot free shell

engine bay baremetalled

filler applied where needed (!) and epoxy primed

inner wings stone chipped and epoxy

upper rear valance filler and epoxy. lower was done later

back in 2001 when i replaced the rear wing i forgot to fit the reinforcement for the door striker areaso,

tap tap...

then i had to make a repair panel for the rear wing

repair panel time..

mark panel to match door edge and start tipping over with pliers

upper part of flange stretched by hand

lower part shrunk and swage put in

ready for final trimming and welding

panel primed on inside, lined up and tacked in

inside edge welded

then start filling the gaps

Thanks. Your work is amazing. I had a nightmare time yesterday trying to make a piece for my mgb and gave up frustrated. After reading through your thread I will be having another go when I finish work today

having made sure the welds had enough penetration

they were cleaned back with the powerfile

then onto the drivers rear door.

repair piece made

checked for fit

rot cut out, inner brace de rusted and primed

and butt welded

also frame and skin repaired

and cleaned back
