Exhaust Secured/Panel beating/Storage Cupboards
last night i got a delivery from my dad's work, they left down these two large steel boxes, which held various electrical equipment...
My dad doesn't want the framed steel boxes they came with so i get them. I hope to make them into a set of shelves or a pair of storage cupboards.
I they should help make the garage more organized, and bright if i paint them vibrant colors.
On a french note, i chained up the mid section of the exhaust. Then sealed up the joint between the Exhaust manifold and the down pipe...
I spent the next few minutes trying to get the bonnet as straight as i can so the bonnet pins will line up once fitted...
I took apart my old exhaust today and sorted out what i'm keeping which is this...
The rest (mid section) i'm either going to weld and keep for spare or scrap it with the astra.
I am in desperate need of new tires, as these are the state of my current ones...
I think the car is over revving at the end of the straight, so i thought about changing the gear ratios, but i don't want to have to take apart the gearbox as it will take forever to be fitted back to the car. I then thought about changing tire sizes. The maximum tire size for my class was, 165/65/13, but they dont care about the profile, as long as the tread is 165 on 13's. I happened to have 6 tires sized 165/70/13 i decided to change to those tires, but before i got them on, the rules had changed allowing up to and including 175/70/13. These are an even bigger profile which should make my second gear longer.
I am now going to purchase six 175/70/13 tires. To be on for Monday. Hopefully. But, there's always a but. Because these tires are a larger profile the car isn't going to handle as well. So i think the car will need more camber on the front offside wheel. I do not want to cut the bottom arm again to ass camber, instead i will the car even further so that the arm will be at it's full extension when cornering.
On the right the 155/70 and on the left 165/70
It is awesome, i can assure you. I'm glad my dad built the garage that big. We can work at four 106 sized cars at a time in there, with room to breathe. Only fault it has, that it's front wall is timber boarded because the shed was originally used for storing and drying peats.
You are correct sir!!! It helps the transfer of weight going into the corners. In another attempt to help right hand cornering, we gave the offside front wheel some negative camber, we did this by lengthening the bottom arm.
The bottom arm looks like this at the moment, with an anti-roll bar clamped to it...
The underside looks like this...
It gives the wheel, this much camber...
All for now, more tomorrow

I am extremely jealous of you workshop!!

The car is built for going round short oval tracks so thats a feature not a fault
Ah Ha! Loads of right handlers then!
Somthing like that if it go's to plan
