I cannot remember where the exhaust exited i just remember it was blue and silver and very nice sounding

yep as stuvy said. They went under various names (323 GTX here), BFMR and BFMP (2WD version) in the JDM (and therefore NZ) where I was. Ford did a badged sister car too. Great fun in the day, nothing could touch one in NZ in the early days.

I’ve got one of the 3 disc in dash alpine units and all period correct amps for it Too, just need some time....

I know to a mk1astra Gte under a house in the garage and you can hardly see it now with all the junk inside and they want to keep it

We started on them age 11 on bombsites and wasteland, a Honda C50... (all the abandoned British carp was left to rust, being too impossible for us little gremlins to actually get going..)

Correct Rob, Irmscher twin lamp grille, tailgate spoiler and number plate backing, Irmmy alloys & steering wheel and Irmscher St2 head along with a Piper Vernier pulley. It was rapid too.

My neighbor's one is black with a gold line
Beige or kaki? Capote and seats , wooden dashboard with veglia instruments and nardi steering wheel .
I think that the carburettor is a Weber

Mk1 astra GTE with irmcher bits

When the 1st Astra's came out, they were a big step up from Escorts, even the 1300's were a relatively sporty drive.
The Mk 2's are a cool shape, almost like an Alfasud. I don't want to know how much they fetch today, i have weighed-in several

I sold this recently as it was not being used but loved it while it was with me, not a camper but a micro bus with a cooker and sink, 1.6 td went well and much better on fuel than my T25 petrol 1.9

Yes i had noticed the days of a cheap classic are getting shorter.

C50 and C90... never stopped running, had one that came out of a river, weighed a ton, full of silt, jet washed everything, inside the engine, everywhere, fresh oil, fresh fuel, it ran, ok smoked a bit and took a few oil changes to get rid of the milky oil,

I have a 1958 morris traveller which apart from a few patches welded on is mostly original, but we are going to do alight resto on it at some point just to make sure it is safe..

I was once a salvage dealer for Norwich Union, got a 4wd diesel version of that VW, had been rolled, straightened it up but left the roof damaged, sold it for a camper conversion, had a table and seats in the back, a sort of day van, a Synchro?
