My initial idea was to use an old Oxy reg to get the low pressure but the more I think about it I think it will really need a large volume low pressure, so maybe 1" pipe or more. Not sure where to get a regulator for that, have done some searches but come up a blank so far. Maybe just a large ball valve would do and the difference in volume between inlet and outlet would mean I don't need to regulate the pressure.

Ball valve will work fine.

Wasn't planning on using one but will have to recheck that my thinking is correct ie it is only a problem if you leave sheets on the table.

Oh sorry I thought you was talking about using airlift from your tank up to your table

I am, must be crossed wires, I thought you were meaning an aerators to dislodge hydrogen bubbles produced from the aluminium.

Ah, ok. I am planning on just pumping air into the top of the sealed tank which will displace the water out via the pipe at the bottom of the tank. When I want to drop the water I will just open a vent on the top of the tank to release the air.

Ordered a sheet of steel today to make the slats for the table, got shafted £35 plus VAT for delivery and they are only 15 miles from me but it was my only chance of getting it before Christmas
Was toying with the idea of just getting a stainless sheet, it would only have been about £50 dearer but in the end just went with the steel.

Also made a balls up, I had seen that a lot of the Yanks use Arm and Hammer washing soda so I got some. Dumped a packet of it in as I filled up the table then noticed small bubbles, looked at the instructions and it says don't use on Aluminium I will drain it off tomorrow after I have cut the steel up and give it a good clean out. Not sure what to use now but for the time being it will just have to be plain water.

I did a test piece (literally) and it seemed to go fine.

I have heard people using Borax but it supposedly banned in the UK yet you can buy it on eBay which seems weird.

Flipping hell thats dearer than the swiftcut stuff.
Swiftcut sell an antitrust solution that kind of works and then a tablet to stop fungus/bacteria.

I use synthetic white water (lathe / mill coolant) had no problems at all

You can get borax substitute, we use it for cleaning here - sodium sesquicarbonate. Don't know if it would work the same for that purpose though, it certainly makes water soft and scours well for our uses.

I was thinking of using V-Cut SS as it is excellent on mill and lathes. I then read the data sheet and decided it wasn't a good idea

No idea if it would work or not, think most people say get the PH to 9 and it stops the rust but I have no idea.

Aye, but that is what I can't understand. If it is meant to be banned how can it be for sale on eBay?
