I did a test piece (literally) and it seemed to go fine.
Nah, it is stone cold after a wee cut like that and probably the water splashing up on the back of the cut will keep things cooler even in longer cuts.Very impressive! Do you have asbestos fingers?
Silicone kitchen funnel is all I can say...Well that is another step done, got the post processor altered for Fusion so that at the end of the cut the Z retracts fully up. Never bothered before on the old table but with the 10 or 20 seconds of air after finishing I think it would get a bit splashy
Try your water 10mm below the top of the slats that works best for me on Steel. But I’ve not done tonnes of aliOrdered a sheet of steel today to make the slats for the table, got shafted £35 plus VAT for delivery and they are only 15 miles from me but it was my only chance of getting it before Christmas
Was toying with the idea of just getting a stainless sheet, it would only have been about £50 dearer but in the end just went with the steel.
Also made a balls up, I had seen that a lot of the Yanks use Arm and Hammer washing soda so I got some. Dumped a packet of it in as I filled up the table then noticed small bubbles, looked at the instructions and it says don't use on Aluminium I will drain it off tomorrow after I have cut the steel up and give it a good clean out. Not sure what to use now but for the time being it will just have to be plain water.

Does that work? I bought a couple off amazon to put on the torch, but was worried bout it overheating the tip? Its just so that when I glance across at it I dont get flashed when it fires! Gets boring after a few timesSilicone kitchen funnel is all I can say...
The funnel needs to go on the retaining cap high up. That doesn’t get hotDoes that work? I bought a couple off amazon to put on the torch, but was worried bout it overheating the tip? Its just so that when I glance across at it I dont get flashed when it fires! Gets boring after a few times
Not sure what I had it at, it is at the top of the aluminium slat holders so I suppose about 25mm below the top of the slats.Try your water 10mm below the top of the slats that works best for me on Steel. But I’ve not done tonnes of ali
Are you asking about mine? What is your soft sense? It’s so much more refined than the swift cut version and faster too
YeahAre you asking about mine?
That soft sense is so much faster than the swift cut tables. That’s rapid.Sheet of 3m steel was with me first thing so got it hauled round and put on the table. Managed easily myself which is something I would never have managed with the previous table, so very happy with that.

Got it cut up into the slats.

I was going to run along with the plasma and cut the second set of slats free but was just as quick with the grinder.

A couple of slats cut to length and placed in to see what they are like.

I do have a problem though and I am going to have to put the slave motor back on. As can be seen the finish is jagged and worse on the slats that are furthest from the motor side of the gantry. Not an issue for this but definitely needs sorted before I do any more.

I have now drained the table.

No marks or anything with the washing soda but if left for a long period I think it would eventually have shown issues so best with it out and I will get some borax or something.
Plenty of sludge though, lots from the steel but also a lot that was left on the table before I filled and also a load falling off the slats.

A vid of the slats being cut.
