Square holes really need broached in some way but I have seen ones that seem to be pressed in so possibly the key is rounded at one end and pressed in.It can be made easily
The only tricky part is the square notch on the dins. I’m sure your kit could cut that out mind. Other than that it’s a simple lathe job.
No drawing I’m afraid. I’ll find a pic
No it’s even easier than that. The other end is 3/8bsp male threadIs the large diameter standard size for a dinse? If so then it may be fairly easy to start off with one of them and thus not have to bother messing with the key.
I think we are at crossed purposes here.No it’s even easier than that. The other end is 3/8bsp male thread
Probably not worth my time making them as volume would be low. I am more thinking of a way a standard one could be adapted for someone with a lathe to easily make for themselves. If you can make them easy and relatively cheap you could make a nice little earner. Not only are those adapters very expensive but they are not easy to come by. I got lucky with mine. The last time I saw a water cooled one was on rapids site for £200 inc vat. Even the water cooled one wouldn’t be too difficult. It’s just drilling the two channels and tapping for barbed fittings.
Little bit concerning that it doesn’t come with a torch Steven. That machine is a Fantastic machine I’ve owned one myself and would be happy to show you around it if your in the area. It’s worth every bit of £1800 all day long but the fact it doesn’t have a torch means it doesn’t get tested on the day of sale properly. This now becomes a high risk machine. He might seem like a nice chap but do you know for sure he hasn’t hid that torch away knowing you ain’t gonna get one easy and cheap so it’s gonna be a few weeks before you try it only to find out it’s got a fault in tig mode. By which time he has your cash. Had I’d of known you were looking at this quality of a welder because I’m looking to sell my tweco/lorch AC/DC shortly and would of sorted you out properly with torch, pedal, cooler and full demonstration of the machine which is what you should be looking for when spending this sort of cash. Buying used is a great way to get top class cheap however you should ALWAYS test it extensively before handing over cash.Hi all, blimey you lot are industrious.
Richard, I did not get a torch and do not have one currently. I dont want to make any more unforced errors.
I did have a new one that I wanted to graft onto my mig (with other mods) but its buried in garage and I havent seen it for 10yrs plus.
The machine was up for 2k, then it reduced to 1850 a week or so later. I made lots of silly offers, then a guy offered 1750, so I was about to loose it. I did buy it now at 1850. It was 200 more than I wanted to pay.
(It only has a ground lead and a stick cable/stinger.)
I spoke to the seller today and he said it was used from new by him in a fab/repair shop for about 2years, the group was wound up and he was offered the kit from his work, this was last Aug and hes done litte with it at home since. He has never used it with a pedal ever, only with a button on the torch. Nice chap.
I have a pillar drill, angle grinder, Vice, dremmel, micrometer, vernier. I can solder really well. The square key could be cut and soldered into place. Solder holds 4tonnes/Sq inch if done right.
(I dont have a cooler and dont plan on weldng at say 200 amps plus where an air cooled torch will smoke your pinkie.)
I could make a cooler, I have a pump from a washing machine, (maybe use one from a PC overclock cooler) an equipment fan, I would need a heater matrix off a car as the radiator. Could do it £50 Id guess. Plus cost of the de ionised water/Glycol mix.
Ho hum, lots of chores to do at home in interim, things come in threes. Washing machine is knacked today - just spent over 700 on a new machine.
Will get welder on thursday - same day as Washer.
Thanks for the help.
I spoke to a guy in Bedford who distributes Fronius Im probably going to take the machine to him and pay 50 quid for an our of teaching my machine - he may put a pedal on and a real torch and get me going. He will know if its right or otherwise.
Steven
Only if you pay via PayPal and are able to return the machine. If he’s got your cash this would prove difficult to refund. I’m in Cambridge.I should be able to claim for losses if its a non runner from a protracted wrangle with ebay -
Your mad.Its being couriered from scotland.
