M_c (won't let me tag) tends to be right on these matters.
I rarely get to deal with petrol engines, but have still seen a few with loss of compression on a single cylinder.
If I get a fault like that, first thing would be to look at plugs and coils. Swap them around, and see if the problem moves.
Next would be a compression check, as it's the easiest next step. Plus it rules in/out a base engine fault.
And then having seen those compression readings, it would be the bore scope down the plug hole, and see what can be seen with the side view camera.
Then I can go back to the customer with a definitive diagnosis.

Used to yes.It should once you start typing the name. Did it work before?
Any idea what caused the valve to burn out in the first place?
Tappet closed up? Or just a manufacturing defect?
Would have thought it was noticeable for a while though, not a sudden fault
What tensions the timing chain ?
Had problems with a Seat, all down to the plastic hydraulic chain tensioner.
Just a thought.
Someone doesn't hang around.
Did you re surface it on the pavement?Didn't go to work today still rough from this rotten cold. I managed to get a bit done, valves lapped and installed, head also lapped flat ready to re-fit. Need to build up the cam train now.
